Hey, I was just going off of what Bogus described initially. Are you saying my short summation of the following was not accurate?
To be fair, the point of the last of us 2 showcase was to highlight the stark contrast and ask, "How did Ellie get here?" Obviously it deals with vengeance for a religious cult murdering her girlfriend because they view homosexuality as a sin. They also put a warning at the beginning of that showcase that what you would see is graphic violence.

Yeah, that's not accurate in any way - that is only speculation, at best.

I'm going to play it safe and assume nothing when it comes to the story of TLO2, the same way I am with Catherine: Full Body's new character- nothing is confirmed and its all speculation. I wouldn't be surprised if Naught Dog took that avenue with the game, especially since the game is stated to be about "hate", but I think the money folks would try and drive away from that kind of story-still might be wrong though. The assumption is that the new character in Catherine is trans, but while that may be true, I actually don't think that's what it is personally. Won't know for sure until we get more info.

Daemon X Machina does look cool.

I think my biggest disappointment mostly comes from Fallout 76 being everything I feared. I was really hoping that the multiplayer would just be put ontop of a normal Fallout game, but that's not the case. I was also hoping we might get a MGS HD Collection port on Switch, but I guess that's just wishful thinking at this point.

To add something positive; I've read rumors an English physical Vita version of this will be made available. I would gladly buy that.

I say obviously, but in the end, I could be wrong. I feel it is quite clear but who am I to make that call. It isn't released. I didn't make it.

And I find it very silly that y'all are complaining about it being a modern game that has killing, but are totally okay for old games to do just the same. Any person that likes any survival horror game, or any game that has guns or knives or swords to portray violence shouldn't be so uppity about a modern game that does just the same, but now with a better story and animation.

Very interesting, considering they aren't doing that in general anymore.

Keep in mind that Sony moved their audience around a bit for a more immersive show. They set up a tent with lights/etc like were in the TLOU2 footage for the people to sit in. So, using the particular scenes they used both were in that environment, and were kinda-sorta fourth-wall breaking, since yeah, the real-life audience was all staring at the couple. The action sequence could have been entirely unrelated.

Seemed to me like basically everyone brought a pretty solid lineup this year though. Not a lot of real surprises, but basically everyone was bringing games moreso than new hardware or services, with a good number of them being single player/etc.

I'm not oblivious to the fact that violence has sold games since we could make red pixels.

You're right that Sony has put a deadline on physical Vita game production in the USA (March 31, 2019). But a few USA Vita physical releases have been published this year (mostly Aksys publications). The most recent I've personally bought were the Muv-Luv VNs ( 1 2 ) by PQube. I hope Atlus throws us ol' Vita stalwarts one more bone with Catherine: Full Body. It's already confirmed for getting a physical Japanese Vita release... but that's Japan.

So, I don't have any horse in the race on this Last of Us 2 gore discussion, but I will say that it feels like a false equivalence to compare it to games of yesteryear with killing in.

Slicing someone up with Genji's sword in overwatch is very difference to slicing someone up with a machete in The Last of Us. Sure, in terms of what's being protrayed they're both roughly the same, but if you really think that the more abstract idea being protrayed in one and the hyper-realistic version being shown in the other are equivalent then I don't know what to say.

I am 100% fine with killing tons of people in old 16 bit games, but I find the gore in modern games offputting because it looks and feels so real.

Well, that reaction does fit the majority's response. There's clearly a big market to receive this content, so fair enough! I just spent nearly $200 on a decade old submersible simulator; I'm admittedly out of sync with whatever I'm supposed to be buying and playing in 2018.
I like post apocalypse media, and like the grimdark and savage type experiences you can find in games like The Last of Us. That being said, I like a lot of stuff beyond that too.
