I recently picked a Supergun with an MV-1FZ MVS board but no games. I am completely new to the whole MVS world but someone told me that some newer games do not work with certain boards. I've been googling and trolling the Neo-Geo.com forums for several hours but did not manage to find any solid information.
So can anyone help me? Are there really compatibility problems? And if there are, which games are known to have problems with which boards?

Re: Neo Geo MVS Compatibility question
I have a supergun and a one-slot board (MV-1A) and to my knowledge compatibility is perfect, any mvs cart should work with any mvs board. I may be wrong, but I own about 20 mvs carts and have played many of the never games on it, (Metal slug 5, samsho 5, etc) and have never had any issues whatsoever.

Re: Neo Geo MVS Compatibility question
One of the few things which I managed to find out up to now is that the MV-1A is known as having the best compatibility.
I know that Rage of Dragons is one of the problematic games, but I still can't find which games fail to work with which games. I would really like to find out BEFORE I start buying carts.
Edit: I just found this: "The only differences between the MV-1A and the MV-1FZ are the amperages, The MV-1A takes +5V 3A, and the MV-1FZ takes +5V 7A and the socketed BIOS is closer to the Jamma connector on the MV-1A". So theoretically the games that work on chipperkwah's board should work on mine. Right?

Re: Neo Geo MVS Compatibility question
News to me, and I've been through a few MVS mobos. Maybe it's a Supergun compatibilty issue? NeoGeo hardware runs NeoGeo software, makes sense to me. I do know of MVS->AES adaptors that have issues, but you've avoided that route by picking up a FZ.
Unless you are gonna drop bank on super r@re carts, you should be fine.

Ya it seems to me that anything that would work on mine would work on yours, the only difference between the two is how much power the amp is drawing from the supply.

yeah i was just going to chime in with Hardmvs.com link.
there are some differences with mvs boards and even some slight graphical glitches.
youwill be able to play all the games, including the newer ones with an 1 slot F
