OK, so I beat normal mode + all allies. I beat normal mode and killed all allies. I beat Nightmare mode. Now I'm playing Ultimate mode. I'm gonna get all the allies since you start with all the power ups. But is there any point to killing the allies in Ultimate mode?

Does beating the boss rush mode get you anything?

I can't remember, lol. I don't think so.

Some people are hoping they add in some tougher modes for the Boss Rush.

I'm also now saved at the very beginning of the new final level in Nightmare Mode. I hope to tackle this run in the next couple of days and then move onto the weirder Zangetsu runs.
Yeah, her first form is a real pain. I just kind of brute force tanked it every time and never really figured out the patterns. The checkpoint is pretty nice and her second form is a cake walk when you get it down, easy to do without taking a hit.

Speaking of that blood/bugs wall thing in level 8, did you guys ever figure out how to go to the right of that one screen that looks super open if the wall of blood/bugs wasn't there? There's stairs above this part you can go up and then down, to stop the wave but then it starts right back up when you try going around. I don't think this makes any sense in words but maybe you guys know the part I'm talking about. Never saw what was over there...

Alfred's fire shield will make you immune to the blood/rubble thing, so you can use that to get through.

I just finished Nightmare Mode. That ending is awesome! I'm now working on my That Man, Zengetsu run. I took the jump attack and double jump for my abilities.

Doesn't Ultimate Mode make you fight the harder boss patterns? How does that work for the final boss?

Also, there are some special codes for Boss Rush mode. If you want to fight the Nightmare Mode variants on the PC version, you apparently must hold 'i' on the keyboard when accessing it...

Ok, just one achievement to go. Nightmare's End. I believe this is the one where I have to ignore everyone as Zengetsu. I'm not sure if it is better to approach this in Normal or Ultimate mode. The levels don't worry me, it's the bosses that I am concerned with.

Have fun with umbrella lady with no double jump or wide vertical sword swings. lol

Pretty sure the chain does double your normal attack, it came in handy big time during this run whereas I didn't use it much previously. It's also a good way to hit that ship boss in the air.

I'd call this run the Castlevania NES difficulty.

Well, I'm now saved at the start of the final level with my regular Zengetsu run. Surprisingly, bosses have not been an issue at all. I've fought them so many times.es, that I know their patterns. Shoot, umbrella lady only tapped me once, and the electro librarian didn't touch me.

Instead, it's the levels that I've been finding difficult without access to double jump or the various ally abilities. Anything that make movement difficult becomes harder due to my lessened maneuverability. The windy mast in level 4 and the library conveyors in level 7 have gotten me way more than any of the bosses.

Of course, I say this without having gone into the final level, so we'll see. I now use the chain a lot though. It's my favorite of Zengetsu's subweapons at this point

Ack, you just hit on what I ran into exactly. The bosses themselves weren't bad because I'd already studied their patterns many times, and they're not the Nightmare versions, either. It's any stage with moving platforms or conveyor belts or whatnot. The reduced mobility really ends up making some areas super tough. I somehow slipped through that room that had the lanterns that shoot out fire at you while you're on said moving platforms, but whew, talk about harrowing!

I absolutely decimated the final boss, though. Again, once you've got that pattern, it's not bad. I even got a favorable start on the first form, allowing me to do the double-power move and just flail on her.

So to unlock the achievement for a solo no-kill Zengetsu run, can you play on Ultimate mode or does it have to be on Normal mode?

You can do either. I'm doing it on Normal mode, but it's your call.
