Is that the date? I got an email saying it was on Xbox One. Maybe it's just a demo then?
It was for pre-orders.

There's a new cooldown system that can be used in two different ways, either a bullet-time slowdown or a weapon overcharge. So I'm sure it's been balanced accordingly.

I figured I could walk past them, but I didn't know I could kill them.

Of course, I'm a scrub. I've only played about half of it, and I'm doing it on Novice just to get a feel for things. Zangetsu feels really stiff to me. I much prefer Miriam.

 I never had the instruction manual for Castlevania 3. So for years, I never knew that you could press select to change into the other character. My mind was blown when I found that out!

Powered up Zangetsu is a joy to play as, though.

It was the "Bad Ending", but is it the canon ending? Seems like he could easily be setup as the evil Richter/Dracula here. Since Miriam seems to be the star of Ritual, I wonder how they'll tie in.

My main worry about the 2.5D thing with Ritual is getting the moment to moment momentum just right... the walking speed, gravity, jumping, etc. It's always weirder to feel more comfortable with that in 2.5D stuff to me. But I'd say all the Metroidvania's play and feel great, along with this, so I think Iga and his team will hopefully nail it.

I don't know what the canon ending is, honestly. There may not be one; I've heard something to the effect that this is sort of a same-universe side story. It might not tie directly into the big version at all.

Did you get a chance to try the backer demo when they dropped it a while back? If nothing else works, the controls were absolutely spot-on. I mean, I had to remind myself I wasn't playing a Castlevania game. I wouldn't sweat that at all. Also, there's an E3 demo coming up soon, so I'll get another chance to give it a go. I'll let you know how it feels, although I'll need to install on a machine that can actually run it well. (Even on my laptop with an iffy framerate, it felt right to me. I know Jeremy Parish said the same when he looked at the game.)

Oh, if anyone had the Switch codes coming from backing, mine were available today. I'm going to at least do a solo Zangetsu (no kill) on the Switch.

Are these being staggered? Or does it depend on region? Still waiting for my Switch code :(

May be staggered. Their latest update seemed to indicate as much.

Holy moly, did anyone beat Nightmare yet for the ending?
CYBERPUNK BLOODSTAINED? YES!!!!!!!!

No shackles of Castlevania here holding Bloodstained back, no limit to what they can do!
Just 100%'d it too. Boss Rush was easy since I knew them all so well by that point and they are their Normal patterns. In Nightmare they were a bit tougher with some additional movesets and it felt like a lot more health. Nightmare was cool, you don't get Zangetsu but start with everyone else. Then level 8 is entirely new and different.

The umbrella vampress boss was the hardest for me on the solo Zangetsu run. The lightning boat boss (level 5 I think) can be kind of tough too and that second turtle boss was annoying on Nightmare. The dragon heads on Nightmare was a little trickier too. I think the Sting Chameleon clone (level 7) was one of the easiest, looked cool though.

Weirdly there's no achievement for beating Ultimate mode though, I'll check that out next.

I beat Nightmare. It was awesome. I'm doing a solo Zangetsu run right now, and I killed all three potential allies.

How do you unlock the last mode? I thought it would unlock after I beat Nightmare, but I still have the ?????????.
