That section to get to the best sword is evil as hell, though.

Just beat it. That feeling when a bonus kickstarter project release annihilates other games coming out. Iga is a real designer and knows what he's doing, not that I ever had any doubts. This is the best classic throwback to me since Shovel Knight, Axiom Verge, Odallus, and Momodora. Even beyond Castlevania, I got plenty of Mega Man and even X vibes throughout some of this which pleases me greatly.

Miriam was my favorite but all the characters were super fun to play and useful. Graphics, controls, and music are S+. Easy to assume we will get some amazing remixes of these tunes in Ritual. The coin boss my was favorite, holy crap. Loved them all though. Going to have to check out Nightmare mode and some alternate paths now.

Ritual is still dropping this year right? Man I hope so. So freaking excited for that and Mega Man 11.

I'm pretty confident today is not October 2nd.

What I read said this was all Inti Creates except for the prequel story stuff to connect it to the coming Ritual of the Night. Iga was involved, but only peripherally. Inti did all the core design and heavy lifting.

Is that the date? I got an email saying it was on Xbox One. Maybe it's just a demo then?

I didn't know they were doing a demo. That video I saw was impressive, felt like the late 16bit/32bit stuff, though it looks even more hard as nails than usual with that way the bosses were uniquely reacting.

Just finished the Emperor of Darkness run, kill all the characters you can recruit which gives Zangetsu new moves. Once you have everything, a double jump, little dash, and a wide jump slash attack, it almost starts feeling more like a Metroidvania CV styled moveset which was cool. The difficulty might be a little higher since you only have Zangetsu and a lot of the stat power ups seem to be tucked away with other characters and their tricks in mind, I only got one strength and defense power up in this run. But with Zangetsu's powered up attack sub weapon and knowing the boss patterns this time around, it was pretty easy. Navigating some of the later levels was way easier with his double jump and dashing too.

Beating this mode unlocks Ultimate Mode and Boss Rush.

There's apparently an achievement for doing Zangetsu without recruiting or killing the other characters, so just his base form... that sounds like NES CV difficulty for sure!

Holy shit, I didn't even realize you had the option to NOT recruit people or even kill them!

I played through once, recruited all 3 people, and now I'm playing Nightmare mode.
