True, which is why I make a point of sending a message to those who don't have it installed. The install option is not exactly prominant, so most people who don't install just haven't noticed it, or not realized the benefit.

SF4 is quickly becoming more and more like Super Turbo IMO. The game is based on zoning and quick chain combo's and less on pokes and parries/focus break. There are some crazy awesome chains combo's possible with Gouken and Balrog but I rarely see or execute them online.

My character of the moment is Balrog (boxer) Using "negative edge" charge technique and EX Dash moves you can do all kind of EX cancels through fireballs into other moves. It can if timed properly cancel the actual EX meter drain before it happens so you can repeat. Not easy but its ruthless when you get going.

Just signed up for EVO! Playing SF4, SF2HD, and SF3 doubles with a friends of mine. Going for the overall experience and less with expectations for wins. Hell even getting a single victory at EVO would be something to remember. More interested in the culture of competition and all of the side events and freeplay opportunities. No other way to get better fast!

One of my friends has gotten really good at SF4 ... I think he could compete at tourneys.

I finally played this game at my friends house and I have to say I absolutely completely fucking despise it. WTF is up with the ultras? You have to input them at a quarter of the normal speed otherwise the game just ignores what you put in. I grew up playing SF2 Turbo and Hyper on max speed settings so I play these games FAST. It was the only way to string combos in the frames.

I thoroughly enjoyed SF3 and it's entire combo system. It wasn't ultra fast but it was reasonably paced but most of all it didn't get fucking pithy about how fast you input the commands. I know I'm pressing the commands right, I've been pressing them for over a decade now. Why doesn't SFIV work properly? I feel like I'm playing the game in slow motion.

Is it just me that feels like this?

Also the PS3 controller SUCKS for SFIV. I haven't been masochistic enough to try the 360 controller...

I'm a little frustrated because I know I have to learn to this game because it's slowly becoming the standard party game now. With me being known as the SF expert among friends it's a little embarrassing that I just don't get why it doesn't work.


Plus the facial expressions look dumb as fuck.

Here's some advice about the 360 controller.

DON'T.

I gave it a go finally and discovered that I was far better with the analog stick than the D-pad. In fact, I remember one moment where the guy I was playing looked at me and asked why I was jumping up and down and I replied "I'm not. I'm pressing forward." He didn't believe me until I showed him.

I agree, the 360 controller is the worst thing I've tried to use since the Power Glove. The PS3 pad isn't horrible, but it's a far cry from a stick, or even the SNES pad with SF2T.

Personally, I've never had a problem with inputting Ultras too fast. When I play on my stick I can always get all my moves to come out when I want them to, assuming I actually know what I'm doing.

I don't know whether it's me being retarded but I said to my friend "hang on a sec while I figure this out" I input the command for hadouken at my normal speed, worked fine. I input the command for the ultra, nothing, tried again, nothing, tried again, nothing, tried again nothing. Friend says, "try putting it in slower I don't play half as fast you and I manage to get all my moves out when I want to" So I tried again, no dice, bit slower, no dice, almost half speed now, no dice. I literally had to put the command in like this: down ... down-forward ... forward ... down ... down-forward .. forward ... PPP. Only then would it work.

We're talking about a second to nearly a second and a half to input the entire move before it would work. I'm used to inputting supers in less than half a second I just don't understand why they've made the controls so retarded.

I guess I need to practice but it's kinda annoying that the fact that I'm pretty good at SFIII means nothing when playing SFIV.

I do the Ryu ultra insanely fast, I think the input is extremely lenient. Its playin on pad that killin ya.

this game has input issues, but they are really deep in there. There is something about the system that makes charging a little different than ST or SF3. When you start to try to partition charge motions during big punish combo's the Ultra's and Supers come out early. You have to be very precise otherwise you end up shooting a Super Combo or whiffing entirely.

Madcatz and Hori completely screwed everyone by not making the sticks to support this game. You can't even buy an Hori EX2 for less than $100 USD online and they MSRP for $45. Playing this on pad just isn't any way to judge the game. It was built to be played on sanwa :)

I was into sf4 for a while. After 2 months of serious play....I'm selling my copy.

I cannot stand how sf4 plays. I've got back to 3rd strike and super turbo for good.
