Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
New job is almost to the level where I can bring in a personal computer to keep up with the forums. I tried doing the log in on the telephone, that will never work for me. New job does have random downtime, as the slack team has seen, so forums are perfect for it.

I hope you guys with office jobs like that where you can casually get online never take that for granted, not all of us are that lucky. I'm surprised how common it sounds though.

I have had many manual labor jobs, I do not take my desk job for granted.
Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
Don't take your non-desk job for granted. A desk job is a good way NOT to stay in shape! Sure, I can browse the forums during downtime. But I've also gained ~25 pounds over the last 3 or 4 years. Aging is probably partially to blame, but the loss of the activities of a manual labor job probably did more (or less, ha ha ha). In my case, transitioning to a desk job came around the same time I crossed that line out of "I can eat whatever the hell I want and not worry about it." I think I've reached the age where my metabolism is just slowing down, but I can't help but feel like if I was still doing a manual labor job I wouldn't have gained THIS much weight.
Working out is easier to do at a manual labor job since you're forced to. It's not as easy to bring yourself to do the same amount of physical activities before or after the 8 hours spent at a desk. Or on your precious weekends.

I have a half desk/light labor field job. After years of straight manuel labor jobs, the young guys can have it. I don't have any desire for all that manuel work at 44 years old. I still lift weights 3 or 4 days a week to stay fit, but all that wear and tear on your body.....screw that.
Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
Yeah I've had my share of manual labor experience too haha, also after 3 years of working at a car shop (Jiffy Lube, pretty fun out of high school job honestly but I don't miss smelling like oil or getting more permanent burn scars on my arms). Anyways, I like my desk job and don't want to sound like I was pointing fingers here. Just kind of funny how often I see people mention how they can casually browse the web or have like a laptop open up on the side for other stuff. I'm doing pure data entry that's tracked so I literally have to be typing and in certain programs for 8 some hours a day, haha.
Get that diet in order Ziggy! Luckily I've been doing well there for years now but I do think I need to up the yoga frequency or maybe start lifting if I can get some neck issues I'm dealing with now figured out. I've been doing DDP Yoga for years though and love it, it is a little more strength focused with pushups and less on the zen breathing types you see, being the huge DDP and all haha... highly recommended though if you guys are looking for something. There's some good 20-30 minute workouts easy to squeeze in the mornings. I'm still on his old DVD's though, I hear the new App is good but I'm still not really ready for a monthly payment when these DVD's still work well.

Heck yeah dude, I worked in restaurants (BoH) for 14 years before finally getting my degree and landing an office job. I felt like I won the lottery. "You mean I get to sit on my ass all day ... and you're going to pay me for that!?" The only issue is that after having worked at a desk job for several years, the 'sedentary lifestyle' thing starts catching up with you. Like, now I need to consciously make time and effort for fitness (with greater and lesser degrees of success) whereas before it just went part & parcel with the work. It is super nice to be able to peruse the forum during breaks though.

That's EXACTLY what I'm talking about! I don't miss my manual labor jobs, but I do miss the exercise that came with them.

What, it's no good to eat 6 Boston Cream donuts in a row?

I have a bad sweet tooth. If I can control that, that'd be half the battle for me. I really just wanna run on a treadmill as much as possible. I know I can run around the block or go to the gym, but I'm never gonna do either of those. Someone gave me an old exercise, but I haven't had a chance to set it up yet. By that I mean it's in my garage, which is too drab to wanna exercise in. My entire basement is just heaps of mess right now, but once I have that fixed I'll have a nice area to plop the bike and a treadmill (once I obtain one) in. They'll be right in front of a TV, so I can either watch movies or listen to music which is more than enough motivation for me to excessive for X length of time.

Unfortunately, not all office jobs let you have complete online freedom.
I am noticing that is becoming more and more commonplace as companies look to watch over their employees. I know of some companies that won't even allow internet access in the workplace.
I used to have complete freedom, now I don't anymore. It has been an adjustment, but you can take what you can get. Unfortunately, I'm not around here as much, but I still pop in every now and then.

For yesterday. Got a tip on a Transformer, the bane of my collection of stuff because I've attempted to get it before and due to a design flaw of poor design in the 80s they're usually often broken or can get broken in the mail. Back when I was a kid I know for a fact I had 3 of them, all autobots. Optimus Prime, Jazz, and Mirage. The first two I've had, the other was a pain and even went as far as finds and broke by the mail losses/returns.
Followed the tip, paid $60 which is standard for a used one in decent shape with the accessories. This one is 100% complete, unused sticker sheet, not played with, all there down to the packing materials.
Tempted to strip my desk a little, can't fit prime, would be nice to put the other two as they're small.
