Then you also have more direct side-grades that Nintendo has done, like how the OG Gameboy had the Gameboy Pocket and the Gameboy Light, the 3 progressively smaller GBA's, and even stuff like the Gamecube that Samsung produced in Japan that played DVD's (I think it's called the 'Q'? I could be wrong on the name).alienjesus wrote:People will debate me on this but in my eyes the game Boy Color is just a souped up Game Boy. More like NGC->Wii.

Re: Switch Discussion Thread
I’m not sure I understand your point. The Gameboy Color was an upgraded Gameboy in a very similar sense to the DS vs DSi and 3DS vs New 3DS. It had a double speed processor mode, 4x the system RAM, and color capabilities. What it did not have was more buttons or more sprites.alienjesus wrote: People will debate me on this but in my eyes the game Boy Color is just a souped up Game Boy. The discussion has come up before and some regard the GBC as more of a successor console than an upgrade.marurun wrote:I’m not sure I understand your point. ^ The fact that the GBC had a large library of exclusive games incompatible with older harder makes it a proper successor, in my opinion. I'd say the same thing about the WonderSwan vs. WonderSwan Color (SwanCrystal was just a WSC hardware variation). Neo Geo Pocket vs. Pocket Color is debatable given the small library of games and low print run of the former. GameFAQs doesn't bother to distinguish those two from each other, for what that's worth.
Moving on, best thing about the Switch so far. The eShop! Holy hell. It's got,
Neo Geo games
Arcade Archives
The Johnny Turbo Data East games (only two so far, but more will presumably follow)
Psikyo shmups
Previously-released-on-Steam games I can now play on a portable
Exclusives
It totally rules. I think I've only purchased four or so physical games so far, and have barely touched them. Downloaded Moon Patrol and Gate of Doom a few days ago.

Most of the retro arcade titles are a little pricey for my wallet.

Re: Switch Discussion Thread
No doubt. And some are easier obtained elsewhere, like on compilations. Still cool tho.
