That is really interesting man, thanks for bringing this release to our attention. I can't believe I never heard Phantasy Star got a Mega Drive port until today. I was at least aware of the PS2 remake though.

yeah same here. It was also re-released on Saturn too wasn't it? Or am I making that up?

There is a Sega Ages compilation on Saturn, which was later released on the PS2 as well. This is a collection of ports, all four games on one disc. I have the Saturn collection, the packaging is amazing, but not it's not an essential item at all if you've played these games elsewhere (plus it's all in Japanese, of course).

Now the only two remakes to be found are the standalone Sega Ages releases of I & II on PS2. Those are rad.

That's the version of Phantasy Star that I have--not counting the Sega Ages compilation on the Saturn. I first played through the game on it, a number of years ago, as well. (Before that I had only dabbled in emulated versions of it.) I can confirm, it is merely the Master System ROM--in this case, actually Sega Mark III ROM--on a Genesis cartridge. So, unfortunately, that also means no FM soundtrack. Great packaging, though.

I love how Sega had some mega-porting (and, later, emulation) going on with their games. Genesis classics had the SMS ports. Lots of arcade stuff ended up on home computers (C64 and so on). Bunches and bunches of compilations -- the Sega Ages line is absolutely insane!

Contrast this to Nintendo. Wanna play arcade Donkey Kong? Too bad kid, go download MAME.

Well, I haven't beaten any games other than what's listed already, but I did start Earthbound Beginnings yesterday. I'm hoping I can at least get to the part where I recruit Ana before the month's out, but I intend to finish it either way. I'm still wandering around Podunk with just Ninten though.

I also beat a couple of other games starring ladies this month, but they were both from much later generations so they don't exactly count. Still, they were fun and had an old-school kinda feel, so thats nice. Those games were Tobu Tobu Girl for GB and Rhyme Rider Kerorican for Wonderswan Colour.

My final list played was:
Legacy of the Wizard (beaten)
The Legend of Zelda starring Zelda (beaten)
Wonder Girl: The Dragon's Trap (beaten)
Valkyrie No Densetsu (not beaten)
Earthbound Beginnings (started but likely not beaten)

I beat Golden Axe right before the month started to set the mood.

I then beat Gain Ground. I made it into the lower 40s in Flicky but currently cannot finish due to a computer issue.
