Just beat Rez with high quality stereo speakers! Yayayayay!
Re: Just beat Rez with high quality stereo speakers! Yayayayay!
I don't see why you would want to muddy up something like Rez with a story. You've got the graphics and the sound, so be happy with that.

It doesn't muddy it up at all; it completes it. I can explain it to you if you want. I can understand where you're coming from, but that's just not the case.

To be honest, I haven't looked more deeply into the game than "trippy graphics and catchy beats". The final boss gave me some vague notion that there might be a story, but then I focused on the beats again.

Well, there's actually a good reason why the game incorporates such effects when you consider that your goal is to reboot an AI who is overburdened with knowledge into a euphoric state, especially when you take into account Kandinsky's theories. The ending statement brings the whole concept to an entirely new level. I guess you really don't care. Still, it's a great game, perhaps on levels most will never know.
It helped introduce to me a theory which actually explains why human beings find music appealing, a question I never thought would be answered.

too bad it is so hard and tedious to get the multiple endings. Better performance takes her into another level of understanding until she becomes completely self aware. Stoked you really understood Rez, its really one of a kind.

As my PS2 is packed away and my wallet can't afford a Dual Shock 3, I haven't been able to experience REZ correctly in a while.
I still remember the first time I ever saw it though, I was in K-Mart and they had finally gotten a PS2 demo (I think it was 01-02) and the first PS games I ever played (PS1, PS2 or otherwise) were Dark Cloud, ICO, and REZ on the demo disc they had in it. I obsessed over finding those three games years later when I got a PS2 in 05 but couldn't remember their names. Eventually by chance while I was at GS in 07 looking through the used PS2 I spotted this strange looking case for some game called REZ; upon looking at the back I immediately shot to the counter paid for the game and ran home to see if I had truly found one of the three lost games I had been looking for. Needless to say it's been in my collection ever since.

Love this game. You either need a good set of headphones or a descent set of speakers to enjoy this gem. Ive beaten it around 10 times now.
P2 and dreamcast version. Although when I show some people this game, sadly they just dont "get" it.
Re: Just beat Rez with high quality stereo speakers! Yayayayay!
its the same way with me and most of the the panzer dragoon series. my friends are completely confused why i put such high regard for the games. they say "isn't it only a rail shooter?" i of course say yes because theres no denying what it is. its hard for me to really put into words why i love the games so much. and i cant say the story because, even though the games story is deep and complex, the story is quite shallow and unexplained until saga (that is the only game i don't own in the series. excluding the gamegear one that is). there's something that makes it absolutely enthralling. rez is the same way for me. but if i ever tried to show rez to my friends, I'm pretty sure i would get some strange looks.env963 wrote:Love this game.
