alright, well I have a little time to see if I come up with something more fitting, otherwise I'll stick with Phantasy Star II, which I'm more than happy to play.

Just to be clear on this one, Jiela is not playable, and you actually are required to play as all 5 playable characters (the dad, mum, daughter, son and pet) in order to beat the game.
I have come up with a shortlist of about 5 games I intend to try and work through for March's Together of Retro, which I plan to play in reverse order of suitability. The first couple work well within the rules, but the last few stretch the rules in ways that you might not approve of

I haven't played LotW since ~1991, my memory was a bit fuzzy there. Looks like you are at least required to play as two females, good enough for this TR.alienjesus wrote:Just to be clear on this one, Jiela is not playable, and you actually are required to play as all 5 playable characters (the dad, mum, daughter, son and pet) in order to beat the game.

Of course. My 'stretch the rules' ones are just in the name of fun, and are more like bonus choices - that's why I'm playing my most suitable ones firstExhuminator wrote:I haven't played LotW since ~1991, my memory was a bit fuzzy there. Looks like a month of Hot Slots and Bubble Bath Babes.Exhuminator wrote:Let's all just do the best we can and have fun retro gaming.
j/k - I wouldn't even wish that on my enemies. I'm starting to compile a bit of list and after perusing Sarge's link I was happy to see a couple of titles that have been in my GOG library backlog for longer than I want to admit. Thanks for the link Sarge!

No prob! I remember reading that article when it was published, so I knew I'd have something to refer to when trying to figure out what to play for this category. Lots of stuff on systems I've barely touched, so I figure at a minimum I'm going to be intrigued by what I find.
Or I could just play Athena.

Let's not forget about '80s shmup games where females are the pilots (those count). Also, lots of '80s arcade games let you play as ladies (even Ms. Pac-Man counts). And many '80s PC adventure games (USA and Japan) let you play as a female protagonist. If you start looking into English fan translation land, you'll find great stuff. There are more options than folks will initially think. I encourage retro spelunking, get creative, see what's out there! You'll likely be pleasantly surprised. Or, if doing research is not your thing, just post what platform(s) you have to work with, and we'll do the best we can.

well, you know the challenge I present. I'm open to suggestions of course. As mentioned, Phantasy Star II is my choice for now. But if there's something that I'm not thinking of that may strike my fancy, I'd be interested to hear ideas.Exhuminator wrote: just post what platform(s) you have to work with, and we'll do the best we can.

I'm going for explicit human female heroines. No sidekicks, player-created WRPG ciphers, etc.
Some stuff I already have:
On my wishlist, could get within the next month?
That's a lot to play around with! Should be a fun month.
