Made it through World 7 in Saga 2 and easily trounced Venus (the boss of the world). My monster no longer completely sucks, but if I want him to be truly competitive I needed to get a lucky meat drop from a mini-boss, and that didn't happen. So for now he's still the party gimp, but at least his defense is high enough he doesn't get crushed every combat.

Right you are, good sir. Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix contains the following games:
  • Kingdom Hearts Final Mix
  • Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories
  • Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days
Then Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix contains the following games:
  • Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix
  • Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix
  • Kingdom Hearts Re:coded
I have both of these compilations for PS3, and I've never played any of them beyond booting up to insure disc functionality. I'm sure I'll get around to diving into the whole convoluted mess at some point.

Actually, to add even more confusion, Kingdom Hearts 1.5 doesn’t contain Kingdom Hearts 348/2 days; it only contains the cutscenes. I’m not sure if the same is true for Re:Coded inside of 2.5. As someone who actually enjoys the games (apparently the only one in this forum), even I find it ridiculous they think we’d want to just watch cutscenes from a game.

There's a Valis PCE release that's literally a compilation of cutscenes from three of the games. Pretty sure there are several other similar retro releases as well.

Haha, oh man well that's what I get for not having played the game. That's nuts. This bit from Wikipedia made me chuckle:
Wikipedia wrote:358/2 Days does not appear in playable form, and instead features the Nintendo DS game adapted into 2 hours and 50 minutes worth of cinematic retelling, and features trophy support.
Hey it least you get trophies for sitting though almost 3 hours of cutscenes!

At any rate that's good to know. I was thinking I'm pretty well set for titles in this series, but it looks like I'll have to still pick up the DS titles if it's something that really strikes my fancy. Thanks for the clarification. FWIW it does look like the 'version' of Re:Coded included in 2.5 is another 'cinematic retelling'.

I played the first Kingdom Hearts several years ago and while I do not understand the fan fervor, I don't think it's necessarily a bad game.

I do have huge nostalgia for anything Final Fantasy and anything Disney touches me right in the childhood, but the game itself wasn't too bad. Yeah, the jumping is almost broken and the combat really doesn't evolve throughout the game. However, I think it's more about the scenarios and the characters then about the combat.

If you have no care for Disney/Final Fantasy, then Kingdom Hearts will not be for you.

I love Disney and Final Fantasy and it still wasn’t for me XD

I've made it to Chapter 9 in FFXII:RW. There's 10 chapters, so I'm getting closer to beating the game. I played this thing for four straight hours last night, which in my circumstances counts as marathon gaming. I was stuck on Chapter 8's boss for a while. Then I spent too much time throwing myself fruitlessly against Chapter 9's sidequests, which are ludicrously unbalanced. However I beat the first campaign quest of Chapter 9 with no issues. I think I'm properly leveled as far as campaign missions go, so progress is still being made there. I've got 22 hours sunk in thus far, and well, I wouldn't mind beating it soon.

I definitely didn't misremember on that one then. I do remember only having a handful of missions left to beat the game but the levels of opponents was obscene and I couldn't be assed grinding.
