How was music played on it after already having that disc in?CRTGAMER wrote:Oop, apologies. I sometimes label the PS1 grey model as PSX to differentiate from the newer white PSOne model. Even though there was an official DVR PSX PS2 Japan model, PSX was the original naming label for the earlier PS1 grey models.greyn0thing wrote:What do you mean by "PSX version on disc"?
The Baby Universe is a PS1 Music Player disc.

You know, word on the ‘net is that the original PS1 model had really good amps and a great DAC and could rival high end CD players in terms of audio quality when hooked to a good stereo.

Swap to your music disc after the program loads. There are a few PS1 games that use music discs as well using a similar routine. Vib Ribbon so quirky cool using a random music CD to create levels.greyn0thing wrote:How was music played on it after already having that disc in?CRTGAMER wrote:The Baby Universe is a PS1 Music Player disc.
There is discussion in the other thread on that, early models had too much disc read skipping issues. Some on various sites thought the chips were better, but debatable and a tradeoff of the disc reader skip anyways making the point moot. The RCA jacks of the early models alluding to potential better audio has no advantage over the standard PS1 connector.marurun wrote:You know, word on the ‘net is that the original PS1 model had really good amps and a great DAC and could rival high end CD players in terms of audio quality when hooked to a good stereo.
