I wasn't going to throw an image or so up until it was done, but here it is now with the updates I told you. In the top view you can see where the edge of the monitor is from how the LCD lights up. That's where I'll need to cut the matte/poster board to the right size to mask that like a normal arcade stand up machine underglass bezel to hide the edge of the old CRTs in the day.
I also forgot I need to find at least 2 to 4 more of those glass clips. You can make out I only have 2 in the image and they have these interesting screws with a square shaped bit (the joystick panels are held on with those too.) I'll have to look into that as the glass slides around as it is. I think it 6 originally.
The third image really shows as best as I can without unscrewing it all the mounting board plate it came with, and where it's attached on the sides to the larger boards. The front part where you see what looks like the screen, that's the sound bar that clips on the bottom across the whole thing and that rounded bit on the right is the big volume wheel I said was easy to get at.
If I ever feel I have to I can replace the board one day since the speaker is solid as is the wiring, all the wiring throughout is right into that coin box and the 2 coin slots.

Small update. I was able to get some black posterboard, sketched out the window I needed plus the cut off of the other filler today. I drove ONE staple into the far corner away from the volume knob/power button so it wouldn't shift, and then screwed the whole top piece back down through that nice and tight. You can't even see the dead space or the Dell screen anymore at all or the lights coming off its power button and the white led of the sound bar too.
I'm having trouble finding some L shaped cocktail glass clips and square head screws to replace the lost ones. Anything I come up with is more of a C clamp clip in .75 to 1in in size not even with the screws.
I would have got the replacement key/lock but didn't have it with me so that comes next out of something cheap like home depot. Should cost me less than rekeying the original.

Totally! The hardware store sells cheap locks (cheap in both senses of the word). Arcade machines and vending machines usually use industrial grade locks to keep out the hordes of "Bad Dudes" who would otherwise pilfer your precious quarters. In the safety of your own home, you could get along just fine with a cheap lock from the hardware store.Tanooki wrote:I would have got the replacement key/lock but didn't have it with me so that comes next out of something cheap like home depot. Come to think of it, your only real concern is aesthetics. It just has to look like the correct lock, so any stainless steel lock of the right size should do the trick. You said that you set the machine to free play, right? So you're not going to be keeping any money in there anyway, right? Personally, I wouldn't even bother installing a lock, but I can respect that you want everything to look right.
I'm super jealous, dude!

I don't intend to and doubt I will ever put it in a spot for pay but you never know, yet even if I did it wouldn't be in a spot where someone wouldn't be obviously spotted trying something. I pulled the lock off the other day and it's got like a roundness to screw the hex nut on it to lock into place but opposing sides have a flat bit as well probably to sit flush with the metal door so it won't spin around. I'll take that along with the black powder coated L bracket and square screw to home depot maybe as early as today and see if I can get this sorted. If I can't sort the bracket out I'll try and measure the thing and order the 'midway' glass clips and just screw it in from the bottom. I'm not that picky as long as the glass sits and they're black to match.
Fishing around in the thing, I found 5 coins in it too, 4 quarters, and I have no idea how or why but 1 cent as well.
I'm suspicious of the 60in1 board. Everything is marked as easy/easiest for difficulty but I have experience with some of these games and I think it's Chinese mismarked as default as they're not playing simple. I've set them to simple in the past using an emulator and these games aren't cupcake. DK I am maxed out so far on a few attempts at 26K, and I still can't get beyond round 1 of DKjr (birds and chains sequence.) Yet others I'm pretty solid at I'm not doing too badly with so it feels like it's on normal with Gyruss and Galaga.
