The reason is that this is a guide for those who don't know which GCN games are good, and are open to spending 5 bucks on a game, even if there is a chance they don't like it. Your question is just like my question as to why everyone thinks Halo is so fun, when I think it's an extremely mediocre fps which is tromped by games others call mediocre like the Time Splitters series. I found the original Metorid prime to be exceptionally fun, yes the scanning feature was kindof weird and truly quite a task to get 100%, but I still liked the game. It's just not a fps tbh, more like a first person action platformer with puzzle elements. I really wished they wouldv'e included some different controller layout, as the Dpad could've been for the different weapons and the different visors, just make one of them, the one that isn't used as often, the toggle one. But my main point is that most likely, he would like it at least some what, so that's why it's on the list. And if someone is really confused as to what games to get a nintendo console, nintendo always makes good games, and if they aren't good, they are usually enjoyable in some sense, with the exception of some of the launch games for the NES.Zork wrote:While we're looking at this, could anyone please explain why Metroid Prime was so great? Personally I thought it was boring and I hated the whole scanning thing. I'll explain further if somebody can really give me a good answer or opinion.
Oh, and I'd like to add geist. Yes, it's not the most spectacular FPSes on the cube, but it was definately fun and the ghost elements were pretty cool. I liked it for what it was worth, plus, it had widescreen and pro-scan, so it is deserving of a spot on there!

I wasn't a big fan of the scanning part, but the atmosphere was incredible and it seemed to main much of the feel of the original Metroid games instead of turning it into a straight FPS.
