Not long at all, as Nintendo will provide replacements and also instructions on how to make your own replacements... according to the article from the guardian.fastbilly1 wrote:How long until someone starts making better versions out of wood or plastic?

Not sure how truly inexpensive it is. The preorder for the set is $80, and that's on top of a $300 console. So, it's in the ballpark of buying into Mindstorms or whatnot would be anyway - though those probably skew older, and have a lot more capability to create your own stuff. Maybe the software will end up being capable though, to the point that the cardboard stuff will just be more examples of what can be done.BogusMeatFactory wrote:This is a smart business move that will be a huge hit in Japanese schools for sure, which may be why they are rolling it out. It is inexpensive, very intelligent and a hit with math and sciences.

Oh I meant more, inexpensive for Nintendo.isiolia wrote:Not sure how truly inexpensive it is. The preorder for the set is $80, and that's on top of a $300 console. This is very much a brain age situation. It will be for a niche audience on the commercial front, but for schools, this will be the big focus.

I think this is so cool, and the moment I saw it I actually found myself wishing my son was older because it looks so cool for kids. But who am I kidding, I’m getting that kit with the fishing reel and piano for myself.
The robot one looks cool but I have a feeling the game will be sub par and the kit with multiple items you can tinker with will have more mileage.

Nope. Just two joycons needed. One for the head set for head tracking and the IR camera joycon in the back pack for action commands.Segata wrote:Robot thing looks cool but 4 joycons? yeesh.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe still seems to be selling like a mother. Looked in like 10 stores yesterday for a copy and got lucky in store 11 as they'd literally just gotten in a couple copies.
In other news, MK8 Deluxe is absolutely loaded with stuff.

Re: Switch Discussion Thread
I bought Vs Super Mario the moment I bought my system and I really enjoy this version. I breeze through the original too easily now so it’s a nice challenge. I looked up the future arcade archives releases and it looks like they’ll be releasing quite a few more. I know Vs Excitebike has a better track editor and two player simultaneous play ( I have it already on my Wii U), does anyone know if any of the other Vs arcade games have significant differences or enhancements from the NES version of the game? I could see myself picking up Vs Balloon Fight if it has changed other than two player. I might also be tempted to get Vs Pinball or Vs Wrecking Crew if they have significant changes.
Re: Switch Discussion Thread
There's also the arcade release of Punchout coming too, that's big on my list as is VS SMB(still not bought it), VS Balloon Fight, and a few others. They're solid games.
