Re: Switch Discussion Thread
oh yeah totally. Like I said, I think it's great in theory. It's great for those of you who actually use it as a portable.
My wife and I just wouldn't play a video game if we were out at a restaurant or something. I've literally never brought my Switch ANYWHERE. So if the bulk of my time playing it was on my couch, then it didn't make a lot of sense. I'm not the biggest fan of first party Nintendo games as it is. And I'd rather just play the third party games on Xbox. So it just doesn't seem to fit my personal gaming habits.
But I know people who opt to play all their games portably. For those people I think the Switch is probably the greatest system... ever.

Oh yeah I would never use it out in a public place unless I was on a plane or train or something. One of the biggest pluses is the joycons. Insanely comfortable for me and during a late night holding a dozing newborn, there is no better controller that allows me to play in odd positions.noiseredux wrote:oh yeah totally. And now that the system has things like Hulu, it is super cool to connect to a Wi-Fi and just watch something. I did use it at a doctor's office when my eventual wait time became a total 3 hours and I had to take my 2 year old with me. I threw on Hulu and she watched curious George as we sat in our room for an eternity.

Re: Switch Discussion Thread
While I agree very cool, these type of things Ive been using my cell phone for several years now to accomplish, and it fits in my pocket. The Switch is basically a tablet with OS for Nintendo gaming, which was inevitable and the future. But I guess those like noise and I, want it for the exclusives. Same with DS or 3DS, I just liked getting the exclusive and niche games for the system, not scaled down ports from several years ago just to be mobile.BogusMeatFactory wrote:Oh yeah I would never use it out in a public place unless I was on a plane or train or something. Re: Switch Discussion Thread
Oh again, I don't expect others to garner the same use of the system as I do. Some people do want those ports. Some people miss out on games and find the switch release an easy entry point for them. Again, not saying everyone needs to use the system the same way, but there is a definite audience for those ports outside of portability.Jmustang1968 wrote:

For instance I have a friend who only just now started getting into gaming, does not have a pc and uses the switch as his primary source of games. For him, doom and skyrim were huge priorities for him because he never experienced them ever and had no means to do so until now.
Different strokes for different folks and that is totally ok.

Re: Switch Discussion Thread
This discussion is what I am trying to convey to my kids. The Switch is a portable console with awesome exclusives. I want to play the exclusives they want the portable aspect. With 5 kids, 1 Switch doesn't make sense and I do not have the resources to buy them each one (hell I don't have the resources to buy myself one).noiseredux wrote:after months of my Switch collecting dust, I'm actually considering selling it. I love the concept of this portable in theory. In actuality, I never seem to use it.
We are still playing the WiiU and my kids play Zelda BOTW on the gamepad on the couch while the others are watching Pokemon or Voltron so they basically have a Switch inside our own house. Not only can we play portable Nintendo games we play Mario Kart 8, New Super, and 2D World and we all have full-size controllers (remotes or pro controllers) to use.
My kids have a Kindle Fire for Minecraft, Roadblox, and er... reading also they each have a 2DS for traditional games, so there is no need for each to have a Switch because until someone can convince me otherwise it is not a family console it is a single player console for quick bursts of multiplayer fun.

This. Perfect system for when my 9-month-old decides he’s going to go to sleep clinging to my right forearm for dear life and there’s no way I could use a traditional controller.BogusMeatFactory wrote:Oh yeah I would never use it out in a public place unless I was on a plane or train or something. The Switch is for gaming on the couch while the wife watches TV.

Re: Switch Discussion Thread
What is great is that all of these sorts of comments exemplify why the system is so successful. There are people who want it hooked up only on its tv for first party exclusives, others for the portability, others who use it for on the couch gaming, others for socializing and everywhere in between.marurun wrote:The Switch is for gaming on the couch while the wife watches TV.

While nice, that's not a unique feature. The Wii U and Xbox can do that.marurun wrote:The Switch is for gaming on the couch while the wife watches TV.
NS is a nice system but for me it still seems like a version 1.0 product. In 2 years the NEW Switch will be a better buy.

And the PS4 can too.Melek-Ric wrote:While nice, that's not a unique feature. The Wii U and Xbox can do that..marurun wrote:The Switch is for gaming on the couch while the wife watches TV.
But as nice as it is as an option on those consoles, the Switch just does it better and is far more convenient.
