Okay, I don't know how many people on the board are fans of the Fire Pro Wrestling series of games, but I figured I'd clue you guys in regardless. Basically, through contact with Grasshopper Production (Suda 51's group), the guys running the Fire Pro Club message board were given exclusive news about two brand new entries to the series, due out soon.
One is for the Wii (I'll post about it in the Nintendo forum), but here I'll detail...
Fire Pro Wrestling HD, for the Japanese PSN and XBLA.
Here's the post on the FPC about the game:
http://www.fireproclub.com/forum/viewto ... 35&t=20607
Basically, it's a 2D wrestling game with HD sprites, a full English translation (despite it being set to be a Japan only release), numerous match types, an extensive edit mode that allows the number of creatable wrestlers to be mainly limited to hard drive space, custom soundtrack and image importing support, logo and edit sharing, and much more.
Yes, it is only a Japanese release, but there are ways to acquire the game through the Japanese XBL/PSN network, and the game has an English translation built in that can be accessed in the options.
If you like wrestling or wrestling games, then it is totally worth your time to look into this game, which is scheduled for a release of 9/9/2009.
Check out the 'Firepro HD/Firepro Collection' section of the board for further discussion and information on the game if you like.

I wanted to be a Teminator but they require you have an armored hyperalloy skeleton and mine's mostly recycled truck tires.

Re: Fire Pro Wrestling HD
Sounds awesome. I got the last one for PS2 and started downloading other peoples custom rosters but I never put any time into it. These are awesome old-school 2D wrestling games but they take a while to learn. The customization options are deep and you can always find cool rosters/logos/etc. online.
I've downloaded demos from Japan before. Can you purchase XBLA/PSN games from other territories?

While I don't know much about doing it for the XBox 360, I've been told that downloading Japanese PSN games is fairly easy. All you have to do is make a Japanese PSN account, buy a Japanese PSN Point Card (you can get them at Play Asia and similar import stores online), and download the game. Once it's downloaded you can play it on any account on the system, so you wouldn't even need the Japanese account anymore I think.Ramatut4001 wrote:Sounds awesome. Plus the game will have a built in English option in the menu, so once you download it you shouldn't have any trouble.
I know it's possible to download Japanese XBLA games on an American Xbox 360, but it's a bit more complicated.

That's cool. Playasia's blocked at my office so I'll have to check it out when I get home. I'd like to see if this works for PS1 titles on PSN as well.

Re: Fire Pro Wrestling HD
Unfortunatly, this has been a confirmed hoax over on fireproclub.com
Re: Fire Pro Wrestling HD
Yeah, I'm really sorry about this. Basically, one of our most senior members contacted Spike wanting to present them a copy of a fan project called Fire Pro M: The Music, where guys from the community made a bunch of songs that had a Fire Pro/Pro Wrestling theme to them. Apparently they told him that (at the moment anyway) they had no intentions of making another wrestling game again, Fire Pro or other wise.
He didn't like this, and made this elaborate hoax to tell the community about this and drum up interest, showing that if a new game was in the works that people would be interested. However, other statements he made kinda contradicted himself a bit, and some feel it was just a bad April Fool's joke.
Either way, I'm sorry I wound up reporting false information. Perhaps just out of excitement and trust of this person (he's a long time member of the US Fire Pro scene and was something of a net friend of mine) I didn't see some of the tell tale signs it was a hoax. Regardless, I should have waited until I saw something official, and I'm sorry if I wasted anyone's time.

Re: Fire Pro Wrestling HD
No reason to apologize, I read his post and I understand why he did it, but despite dashed hopes for another Fire Pro, no harm was done. Besides FPW: Returns offers decades of entertainment!
