I bought Dragon Valor for the Sony Playstation 1.

I bought this game because of a former coworkers gift card for leaving my old job. Time to finally add it to my Backlog. I know very little about the game, but I had passed it by several times. Obviously, I bought it and then one of my favorite Youtube shows did a video about the game and got me really excited to play it. The game looks like a 3D version of Illusion of Gaia or Soul Blazer, but with giant dragons being fought and generations being born. Looks highly interesting and I can't wait to actually play it!

And this should be the last game that I add to my Backlog in 2017!

Woo Christmas games!

First off, I gave my fiance a few games. Since we share all of our games, any games he gets means I get to play them too

I got him:
- God Wars: Future Past (Vita)
- Mary Skelter: Nightmares (Vita)

I received a few games too!
- Cat Quest (PS4)
- Danganronpa 2 (Vita)
- MeiQ: Labyrinth of Death (Vita)
- Shiren the Wanderer (Wii)

IMO Dragon Valor is a hidden gem on PS1. It's kind of an action-RPG/beat 'em up/platformer hybrid. Lots of great fighting and bosses. The game has a generational system too, where you play as protagonist descendants (think Phantasy Star III). When I beat it, I gave it an 8/10. Good times in my book.

Yep, Dragon Valor is cool stuff. I think it got a lot of guff back in the day because some magazines (and perhaps Namco themselves) tried to position it as a Zelda-killer. It's not even really in the same ballpark; as Ex says, it's more of a brawler with RPG elements. Take it for what it is, and you'll have a good time with it. I know I did!

Dragon Valor is also the third game in the very loosely-defined Dragon Buster trilogy. I still need to grab myself a copy. I do already have Famicom copies of Dragon Buster and Dragon Buster II, of course.

Yeah I was kicking myself for not getting it earlier when it was fairly inexpensive, but at least I have it now.

Shiren III is definitely worth owning. A complete English fan translation exists for the PSP version if you'd rather play it portable. There's no big differences between the Wii and PSP versions that I can remember.

I really need to play some rougelikes next year. I already own 2 Shiren, 2 Torneko, 1 on the PS2 (I think it's something like Yagnus' Mystery Dungeon?), Chocobo's Dungeon, plus a few other non Mystery Dungeon rougelikes. So far I've only beaten one rougelike, which was Sorcery Saga haha.
