I love the first two Grandia games. Parallel Trippers owns too. Rest of the series -- eeeeehhhhhh.
All the criticisms of the first game are correct. It's about 20 hours too long, starts off dreadfully slow, and the graphics are turds (shoulda been in 2D). It's still pretty great, and the battle system is fun as hell. Overall it's one of the stronger JRPGs of that generation.

I honestly like how the game looks personally. FFVII On the other hand....

Throwing around fetch quest, very tedious, and poorly laid out so you need a really good sense of direction is a bad combo in my book. Might just wait to see if I want to bother with it some day if I come across it locally. I can't see risking ebay over that.

Xenoblade 1 still has a great cast of characters and story. The game still has a very imaginative world. That said, the gameplay kind of sucks now. Mind you I love this series a lot. After playing X and XC2 the mechanics and other things are hard to go back to. Plenty of times older RPGs are still very playable and good mechanically but Xenoblade 1 mechanics feel rather clunky now.I truly hope Xenoblade "3" expands on the XC2 system.

I'm not sure if this will be unpopular or not, but I suspect it will - I hated Phantasy Star Portable. It's not a bad game, per se, but I despised playing it.

The first one was rough, they made some major improvements in the second. PSP2 is generally the one everyone likes.ElkinFencer10 wrote:I'm not sure if this will be unpopular or not, but I suspect it will - I hated Phantasy Star Portable. It's not a bad game, per se, but I despised playing it.

I've had like a half a dozen folks tell me that, so I have to believe there's some truth to it. I shall approach it with an open mind! Whenever I actually get a copy of it, that is.Gunstar Green wrote:The first one was rough, they made some major improvements in the second. Sonic CD's US soundtrack is a billion times better than the Japanese one.

Unpopular, but there is a small set of us that agree! Although I find it to be more on a song-by-song basis. A lot of times I like the US version better, but there are a few of the Japanese songs that I like more.TalonTheRetroGamer wrote:Sonic CD's US soundtrack is a billion times better than the Japanese one.
