Herre's another one: I don't think most Sid Meier's Civilization games has aged well, including SMAC. Poor AI, grindy, poorly balanced, repetitive, a smattering of bad mechanics...They are not good games.

GTA games on PS2. I was never the biggest GTA fan but did enjoy Vice City. Those games have aged like hot garbage. They were not good looking games then and look esp bad now. They don't play well either. They feel clunky. Not played a GTA since SA but many open world city games since to compare them to. To be perfectly honest once you get past the novelty of them for the era...I'd argue they were always bad.

I fully agree. I played GTA3, Vice City, and San Andreas when they all debuted. I thought they were boring after 5 minutes, fairly mediocre looking, and played sloppy.

Some day I plan to try GTA IV and GTA V, here's hoping the uptick in hardware capability improved things.

Those GTA games are really, REALLY hard to go back to after GTA 5 (although, to be fair, they're better, smoother and less clunky on PC or even the original X-Box than on the PS2). I'd argue they're now redundant, but I'm sure there's still some fans.

GTA to me has been and always will be grossly overrated. Probably belongs in that unpopular feelings thread. I've tried for years going back to the original to like them, GTA3 went a long way to make it more fun and less aggravating but it still had issues. GTA3 and Vice City were the only two I ever finished or ever really enjoyed but I tried most and quit with 4. 4 turned into some horrid nagging cell phone harassment game where you'd also get a fat ass if you didn't go 'Sims' light and hoof it around town or on a treadmill in game. So fun. The cars never seem to handle that well, the camera is kind of janky, the hand to hand was a real crap shoot, and aiming weapons is a bit annoying too. They play notably nicer on PC, but that's still not saying a lot. GTA games turned me off to sandbox stuff almost completely.

GTA 3 was fun to mess around with when it first came out. It was a novelty but one that struck gold and inspired countless games to come. I wasn't really able to invest myself in doing anything other than creating as much chaos as possible however.

Vice City actually got me hooked though and while I never played San Andreas it seems to have a lot of fans.

I really enjoyed GTA 4's characters and story though I seem to be in the minority on that. GTA 5 has its ups and downs but I really enjoyed it, especially how the main characters sort of represent the different takes on GTA's past protagonists: The aging mob guy who just can't get out of the business looking for that last big score, the young street-level gangster trying to make a name for himself and the utter psychopath. It's also one of the most impressively detailed open world cities out there.
