Nice! I personally prefer those versions of the first three games. Yeah, the controls are a bit different, if you're used to the NES versions, and they aren't monumentally improved versions, but I find them to be better in enough areas that I feel more fondness for Wily Wars/Mega World than the NES versions. The Wily Tower is also a really cool addition, with some really good original music. I find the Mega Drive renditions of the OSTs to be more memorable, as well. I hope you end up enjoying Wily Wars, when you get around to playing it, but in general, I tend to assume that anyone who has put a lot of time into the NES versions, beforehand, will not have a very favorable opinion of Wily Wars.Markies wrote:I bought Mega Man: The Wily Wars for the Sega Genesis!

Re: Games Acquired 2017
Yeah, I don't think anything will top the NES originals. I have such nostalgia for the first three Mega Man games, especially Mega Man 2 that I don't think anything will top them.
However, I did play and enjoy the Mega Man Anniversary Collection, so I enjoy the different takes on the games. Since that was a straight port, it will be an interesting to see an upgrade in graphics and sound. I played through Metal Man on Mega Man 2 and it looked really nice. The visuals are nice and the music had its own flavor. I was reminded that it is Mega Man 2 on difficult as they got rid of the Normal option, so that will be fun.
But, I am mostly excited to play Wily Tower. It will be great to be able to play a "new" classic Mega Man game!

Rockman 2 never had a difficulty select like Mega Man 2 did, but the Air Man in Wily Wars MM2 isn't busted like in Rockman 2 for the Famicom.Markies wrote:I was reminded that it is Mega Man 2 on difficult as they got rid of the Normal option, so that will be fun.

I have, like, a visceral reaction to that art style and those character designs. I absolutely can't stand it, and it really takes those games down a few pegs for me (they're still pretty rad though). Tetsuya Nomura has the same effect on me.
Re: Games Acquired 2017
Nomura is absolute shit. Zippers and belts and clown shoes and detail upon detail to the point I can't make out any of the detail. Lighting is a prime example. He's a one trick pony with Cloud and his trick sucks.BoneSnapDeez wrote:I have, like, a visceral reaction to that art style and those character designs. Re: Games Acquired 2017
That's how I feel about One Piece and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. I'm sure they're great anime, but I LOATH the art styles so much that I refuse to watch either.BoneSnapDeez wrote:I have, like, a visceral reaction to that art style and those character designs.
