I think possibly Zelda 2 takes that crown.

Windwaker looks great, plays fine, and drags like a dead donkey at the end. 6/10 game for me.

That is the most accurate statement I've seen written about Wind Waker on this forum.

I haven't played through Wind Waker since it was released, so I can't really say how well it has aged. Perhaps I'll give it a go on the Wii U version.

Zelda II is weird, but I love it. Majora's Mask is weird, too, but I don't particularly like it. It may actually be my least favorite mainline Zelda. (It's still a'ight, though, but I don't anticipate playing it again for a long, long time.)

Windwaker is my favorite Zelda. It's a fantastic game. Next, to Botw it's easily the best 3D Zelda. The most debated Zelda everywhere, not this forum is Zelda 2. Again outside this forum MM is talked about constantly. It got a remake for fuck's sake. It's not something people don't talk about. The least talked about 3D Zelda is TP. HD port od Wind Waker fixed the Triforce Quest and you can sail pretty fast now. Gamecube era that was just to hide loading of areas.

I hated Windwaker. It does look great but the dungeons are empty and dull and that's kinda big deal considering how big part of the game those are. I did like the bosses though and it has that Zelda charm but those weren't enough to save it. Just like many others i dropped the game at the point where you have do to treasure hunting.

I did pick up the Wii U version but i don't know whether i ever give that version another try. It fixes at least some of the games issues.

Sadly my save file got erased but I did everything in WW. Even that 100 level survival to get the mask. One day I might pick up WW HD to redo it all again. I got every treasure, every dungeon and did all the stuff with GBA and tingle. This is way back in 2003. Don't even have OG GBA anymore. This is the only forum I have seen a lot of hate for the game but then again this forum I included has many odd opinions most everywhere else don't share. Makes it interesting and at times refreshing. For once I'm not the only one on a forum who sees how bad Skyrim is. Then see people like me enjoy Drive Girls. So whatever lol.

On Symphony of the Night it's a pretty unbalanced game and I think its descendants improve on it in this regard. Yet it's still one of the most fun to play because all of the other elements come together so well. I don't know if it's a "first love" thing or something or if the rest of the game is just that good that the mechanical issues don't really feel like a big deal. I do think Super Metroid is the "better" game from a design standpoint but it's a masterpiece that basically defined the genre so that's hard to beat.

On Wind Waker I tried to play it but didn't get through it in the same way I didn't get through Ocarina of Time. I thought maybe it would be the 3D Zelda I'd finally get into but alas, 'twas not meant to be.

I don't think Wind Waker being controversial is limited to Racketboy but it's certainly a minority opinion, obviously, and this forum does have an unhealthy obsession with it.

There was however extreme levels controversy surrounding the game before release. I don't ever remember a Zelda being hated on more before it came out, that's for sure.

As far as Castlevania games go, saying SOTN is great but has issues doesn't seem like an unpopular opinion. Even in our favorite games, most of us will easily find things that could be better, that's what really digging into a game will do for you, you see the flaws but love it anyway.

That said, Lords of Shadow was a good game. It wasn't SCV IV or SOTN, but it was fun and should not be hated on.
