Could we go one step further and start with a list of beat em ups for the SNES and then branch out to those of other consoles?

I love Beat 'Em Ups, it's just too bad all the best are limited to Arcades: Battle Circuit, Armored Warriors, Denjin Makai II, Alien Vs Predator and Ninja Baseball Bat Man just being a few examples of the best that never made the transition to consoles.

AVP never made it to consoles? Mine must be a bootleg pirate game! lol

I would love a bit on SNES beat em ups. It's a funny coincidence, I recently came to the realization that beat em ups are awesome but I own very few for the SNES. I went on a short eBay spree and got about a half dozen games, but I know there's MANY for the SNES. An article like this would be just what I'm looking for!

I think any article should start with the originals in the arcade like Final Fight, it was two years later that it was released on the SNES. Even when it was released on the SNES it was censored...
Start with the arcade maybe mention the ports, then do console only games.

Love some beatemups and I'm actually curious what the SNES has to offer (can't even remember what's on the SNES gems list without peeking)

There were several Alien vs Predator games. Two for the SNES, one for the Jaguar, etc. However, the Beat 'Em Up by Capcom (Click Here) never made it past the arcades.

Ack, I think you should take the route of the shumps articles and give a rundown of all beat-'em-ups for the console. It might seem overwhelming at first, but you don't need to write everything in one shot, you can divide the article in parts. Were you to do it this way, it might be better to organize the list by release date.

You definitely should include those extra bits of information, and you can specify region availability with those little flags in each game's chunk of text. Also, it's probably a good idea to include your thoughts on the games. They always help me decide if I should give some game a try, since, even if I disagree with the author, I'll know where he's coming from and come to know the game itself. Why not ratings as well? One to five stars, maybe?

You count 85? I'd like to see the list to begin with, just to see how many I'm missing.

Ok, got more of a response than I expected. I might just do it in alphabetical order and break the article into lettered sections. We'll have to see how I feel about it once I get started on it, though it's gonna be on the back burner for a couple of weeks as this semester wraps up.
