I was so tired of the Zelda formula but BotW is the first true 3D Zelda formula the NES game est and honestly missing out if you have not played it nor give it a chance. Botw may as well be a new IP it's so vastly different than the formula we have had since LTTP. PS4 has turned into my 4th fave system ever thanks to the Japanese support and LRG and others like it. I think the only first-party Sony game I own on it is Gravity Rush 2. Some of you on this forum really can't move past the 80s and it's limiting. I love retro gaming. 90s best era in gaming IMO. Still a ton of great stuff these days. I honestly feel this gen is better than 7th as games that last gen would have only gotten a digital release now get both digital and physical whether it's from LRG or even something bigger like THQ Nordic.

I cannot think of a single person on this forum that comment fits.

I dunno, BoTW was good, but actually new for the franchise, and a lot more engaging to me. The bit I played of Mario Odyssey so far seemed mostly like Mario 64, albeit up to date. Quality for what it is, but I didn't find it hard to put down. Haven't gone back to it yet. Doki Doki Literature Club proved a much more interesting use of game time >_>

Zelda > Mario, of course.

But yeah I'm kind of with Tanooki there. Not liking the Nintendo big hitters we only get every several years is like not liking fun. I know that sounds like fanboy drivel, but look there are days I secretly think I might like 2D Sonic more than old Mario sometimes and have other questions about my videogame faith. And Mega Man was my NES God. Just got back from a friends showing me Odyssey and I'm not oozing out the mouth to get a Switch immediately or anything, but I am really stoked to play it when I do. Thinking there's other 3D platformers of this caliber from the last few years is just bonkers. Don't be a silly goomba.

Geez Louise, can we PLEASE not hate on people for their platform preferences? Except people who love the CDI, they deserve it. It's so... gauche.

As for the 10/10 review score thing, some publications call their 10 a "perfect" score, but I don't think anyone would argue that there is truly a perfect game devoid of any flaws. But the thing is, if great games get a 9 or a 9.5, what do you give those games that actually go a step better? Those rare titles that really exceed all expectations? I think there's room for a 10 score. It's simply a rare accolade for the truly deserving game. You always have to have a top score, and that score needs to be rarely granted to emphasize it's worth. And with their Switch titles it sounds like Nintendo is trying very hard to push into that space.

Link to the Past - 11/10
Super Metroid - 11/10

Not perfect... they are beyond perfection.

Seriously. It's exhausting, especially when you're the one favoring the unpopular console. I MUCH prefer Dead Rising on Wii vs 360. I always though Call of Duty was better on Wii and Wii U than PS3/4/360/One. Hella unpopular opinions, and jesus christ, it's exhausting.

I don't recall Pierrot or myself saying there were other recent 3D platformers of Odyssey's caliber. That was never our point of contention. We were saying Odyssey didn't interest us personally is all. Which is an unpopular opinion, hence it was expressed in this thread. However if someone is a fan of 3D mascot platformers, it makes sense they'd be interested in Odyssey.

If either of you are talking about the Switch, I have three things to say. Firstly I don't see where Pierrot nor myself were "hating" on the Switch. We only said its current two most popular games aren't appealing to us. Secondly the Switch is in no way whatsoever an "unpopular console", it's very popular right now. Lastly, this is the unpopular opinions thread. Taking offense to someone's unpopular opinion in this particular thread is what's exhausting.

The closest to this would be Bone, but he's got so much to play anyway, I don't really think this is a huge knock to him. And he does venture into the 90s, just not as often.
