Complex issue regarding toploaders
Complex issue regarding toploaders
Okay, I just bought an NTSC Nes Toploader (I am not sure if it is different to the PAL toploader, considering both of em are region free), without any cables or plugs, and I live in Australia. I own an NES but that is also NTSC, however that has the cables. Now inconveniently, the toploader just has to be unique and use the RF switch or adapter, as opposed to the normal red, white, yellow RCA cables. Now since the original NES uses the RCA cables, and the toploader doesn't, I am obviously having quite a bit of a problem. However my friend has an RF switch or adapter for toploaders, however it is PAL. Now my question is, will a PAL RF switch / adapter work for an NTSC top loader?

Welcome aboard, I'm always happy to see another Aussie here
. I see no reason why that wouldn't work. Give it a try maybe, it wont hurt anything if that's your concern.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

Any regular RF switch should work just fine.

The lack of AV output is one of the key reasons the top loaders simply aren't worth it.

If you have a bit of soldering skills and wish to mod your toploader for A/V, give this guide a shot: http://www.gamesx.com/rgbadd/nes2avmod.htm

Cheers fellas, I'll give it a go, now to begin the arduous task of moving an entire TV forward out of my entertainment unit just to plug this sucker into the back ><.

No, I've actually never seen anyone with av to an nes. We always had the rf with the little gray box. I even used the nintendo rf's for my genny'sslowslow325 wrote:Am I the only one that plugs my NES 1 in the RF?marurun wrote:The lack of AV output is one of the key reasons the top loaders simply aren't worth it.

Re: Complex issue regarding toploaders
Back in the day I used to RF my NES1. I was running the big daisy chain of all my consoles, so I wouldn't have to plug or unplug the consoles. And at the time the TV I was using was quite old, so it didn't have RCA inputs. So up through the N64 I had RF inputs for my consoles. Now I've got my NES on the AV inputs, since I upgraded my whole aparatus.
