And that's what working in comedy will do to a man folks.Ack wrote:I don't have much of a soul left anyway.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.
Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
Wolfenstein II is currently sitting at a "Mixed" score of 68% out of a little over a thousand reviews on Steam right now. Sounds like an unoptimized mess. Just like Dishonored 2...
Really bummed about this and since Dishonored 2 was a trainwreck for me at launch, I guess I have to wait this one out too. I'll be curious if anyone here gets it on PC and has good results.

Are the complaints about performance, or just finding the game content itself a mixed bag (as, say, the Arstechnica review did)? id Tech 6 has seemed to be very scalable so far.
Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
It's a ton of performance issues. People in the Asia's weren't even getting the full game package downloaded correctly. Lots of freezing/crashing reports, etc.isiolia wrote:Are the complaints about performance, or just finding the game content itself a mixed bag (as, say, the Arstechnica review did)? id Tech 6 has seemed to be very scalable so far.
Also just watched the Digital Foundry breakdown video and it doesn't appear to run as well on consoles as Doom 4 did. Makes you wonder about idTech 6, maybe only id really have a handle on it. The Evil Within 2 surprisingly used some kind of other new engine.
I see Popo has played some, maybe he has a report.
Game quality wise I'm hearing pretty much all good stuff on podcasts and most are saying it's better than The New Order. Which was great, but admittedly did have some pacing issues. This sounds better.
Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
Ah. I thought the first was good, but very overrated as a narrative since it's almost entirely caricatures. From the writeups, the sequel seems much the same. Ars basically said it didn't pick up until about halfway through the game. So that's why I was figuring it might just be people not having it live up to the hype. Sucks that it's also performance things.
Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
Yeah, that was something that was brought up during Game Informer's podcast discussion of it. They all agreed that BJ's hit or miss poetic monologue of the first was well, hit or miss. But it sounds like in this one he actually becomes more of a character by interacting and talking with NPC's more, so he comes to life better. The little hub ship area sounds more fleshed out than the one in the first game too. Either way I'm definitely not taking this stuff too seriously, haha.isiolia wrote:Ah. The stealth sounds better in this one too. In the first, you could stealth... BUT you still had to clear out areas and essentially kill everyone, almost discouraging it in a way. In this one there's apparently sections you can sneak through and avoid combat entirely, which sounds a lot better. But I did stealth in the first and plan to go guns blazing now.
Anyways yeah, not sure what to expect or when I'll get it. Looks like a great FPS but I wasn't really expecting it to go against the other juggernauts this year for me. And if I had a Switch right now I wouldn't even be talking about this game right now...
Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
I just straight up can't play; I get single digit FPS even on low settings. Now, my system is definitely below the minimum specs, and it is a five year old machine. I've mostly managed to keep going thanks to the fact I've got two 670s in SLI. But Wolf II doesn't support SLI, so I've got one out of date graphics card trying to push things and it fails utterly. So I've got half a new computer sitting in my living room, with the rest of the parts arriving by Tuesday. I'll be able to evaluate things then. But I wouldn't be surprised that a lot of other people are also just having straight up performance problems because their rigs can't handle it. It really does seem like this needs a fairly up to date rig, like Crysis back in the day.Xeogred wrote:I see Popo has played some, maybe he has a report.

Damn.
Well I've been playing most new games on max with a 1060, but yeah. Seeing a lot of nvidia people having trouble with it. I'm just not going to risk it.
I'm not totally surprised though, it definitely does look like new-Crysis level fidelity.
I think I'll pickup The Evil Within 2 instead for now.

hmmm, I wonder how this will hum on my 1070...or not.
Perhaps I should play it on my PS4 PRO instead?
