And that's fine, we have indies for a reason and their tools are improving and starting to compare to AAA quality titles anyway.
At this point, I think it's less trying to put DLC in and more trying to put microtransactions into these big AAA releases. DLC takes far more effort to develop and market, where by comparison microtransactions usually don't need to take that much effort to implement and are a much more consistent revenue stream for a multi-player game.

If there's any bright side to that, perhaps it's that hopefully new maps will start being free right off the bat to everyone.

Sorry. Wish I responded sooner. All I'll say is that I flip flopped between single player and multiplayer games. It all really depended on what game was out at the time. I can play through Mass Effect 2 and then move on to Modern Warfare 2 online right after.

I can firmly say that I fit in the single play camp quite firmly. But as many pointed out, I understand where the industry is headed and I will appreciate game releases like Deus Ex and Dishonored as those may be the last if its kind on the AAA space of the industry.

Well at least we can go back and play games we missed right?

I'm glad I was able to enjoy some great games from Visceral.

Kotaku has a long post up detailing a lot of the project Visceral was working on, and why it got canned.

I've read the Kotaku piece before. It was very detailed and had quite a bit of insight.
