If you're just looking to get something casual going then I'd recommend sticking with one of the flavors of Street Fighter II. Pretty much everyone recognizes the cast from there, while SF3 3rd only has Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, and Akuma. Plus, Street Fighter II is the least complicated, so it's very pick up and play.
