A number of people being banned is crazy. It's excessive even by sonygaf standards.

What's even the deal with NeoGaf? It seems like a lot of people hate Neogaf (particularly a lot of 'famous' Youtubers and people in the industry), although I can't really see why. Truth be told I've never even visited the place... It all seems to be because the users there don't all lick everyone's nut sacks and apparently tend to be left leaning and anti-gamergate. I don't know. It always makes me laugh when people treat online communities made up of hundreds if not thousands of different people from all over the world from various backgrounds as all being this one, static, homogeneous entity.

I find it bizarre how 'politicised' and 'toxic' the video game community has become online. Racketboy is such a cool, rational, chilled out place compared to most other gaming communities. I don't know about others, but I just want to chill out and talk about video games with other like minded folk. I'm so can't be assed with all the bullshit drama and whinging about SJWs etc or who said or who did what. There's so much hyperbole and nonsense.

Hear, hear man. I think where RB is a small circle of more long-time members and since the scope is more focused, it's really one of the best boards out there for retro games. I'd much rather the forum be a bit slow with quality game/hardware-focused content than a huge board with tons of attention/controversy-seeking posts.

Well for starters the mods had daily ban quotas. You need a paid email to join and you go on a waiting list and people have been banned for little reason much of the time. The place can be pretty mean to people and RiME developer said Gaf made him cry. It can be a pretty toxic place. They try to be SJW central by the owner but as shown twice, he has a history of sexual assault and they harbored a pedophile. They tried to censor people when the news broke of his arrest. If you don't know the gaf lingo even as a new member you are heavily ridiculed. It's not an individual user thing but I think more of the culture of the forum. It's a place that is really true to the saying when in Rome. I have lurked but never attempted to join. What I like about the place is a good place for insider news and interesting gaming topics. I agree it's BS. I'm not emotionally invested in the gaf drama but even before this shit show, the last couple years has been an entertaining train wreck.

Right, I have heard much of that, but honestly, as much as I would laugh and condemn the bullshit and drama on NeoGaf and whatever is done by members or moderators/admin etc., I also can't help laughing at the drama outside of the site, from those that don't like it... So people on there are "mean" and the mods are ban heavy? Big whoop. It's the internet, what do people expect? The internet is a cesspit for all the worst and best aspects of humanity. Just ignore it if you don't like it... I managed it until all these news stories broke over the weekend and I decided to find out more about the site.

But then it's a fucking cycle you get yourself sucked into. Just look at me, moaning about people moaning about people moaning.

Yeah, it's funny to look at from afar. I only care about the news and interesting topics about games.

You guys are the best..... :D

The only thing I wish for is stuff like developers and stuff making appearances. The real technical discussions are pretty sweet.

Can we avoid using terms like SJW? It is inherently political and intended to be derogatory. It is also not at all germane to the core accusations rocking the GAF community and site right now.

To be honest, I had to look it up as I had never heard of it.
