Well, that sucks. I hope everything works out with this trade.brockmoreno wrote:Really sucks it went down when it did. I was in the middle of a transaction for a OSSC I bought. Luckily, I have the tracking # saved.

Re: NeoGaf is likely no more.
I have no idea if NeoGAF's administrator is guilty or not guilty of that which he was accused. However, I do think he could have handled this whole situation with a lot more grace and maturity. He turned his site into a shit show, and people were being machine gun banned left and right last night. I can understand him being upset, but that's not how an adult should act.
Honestly folks, I wouldn't have minded seeing NeoGAF cease to exist. Too much industry influence, credence, and usable knowledge has been concentrated into that forum for far too long.

But that's often the way it is. People with knowledge are going to probably gravitate to either niche communities focused on their topic or to a single larger forum where they can make connections and also have a big audience. If NeoGAF really does cease to exist, they'll just go to another forum, but I doubt they'd really spread out that much. It just means Giant Bomb or some other large competitor would get bigger as a result.Exhuminator wrote:Honestly folks, I wouldn't have minded seeing NeoGAF cease to exist. Now, more of the casual users, I could seem them spreading out some. I could see us getting a few more experts, but more likely we'll get more moderately knowledgeable users, which isn't a bad thing.

Really good explainer article at Vice:

I think this article covers things pretty well for me. NeoGAF would be better off without Malka.

Former staff announced a new forum called ResetEra. Supposed to debut soon. Still, requires a paid email.

Who the fuck pays for email these days? Gmail is EVERYONE's email account, almost.

That method of anti-bot/anti-troll authentication is so incredibly shortsighted and dumb. I wonder if it will still take months to even become registered.Segata wrote:Still, requires a paid email.

Looks like the OT area is kind of back. I haven't logged in there for a long time due to the dumb way the place in general is handled. I see a heaping pile of angry people and even more angry people who requested bans or got kicked out for basically maturely (or not) expressing displeasure with the story given it lines up to many past overly similar behaviors. I don't see the place dying off as there's enough there who don't care, but I would hope to think the industry types would abandon the space.
