Pac-Man Spin-Offs and Clones to Add?

Post by racketboy »

I just stumbled on this old guide today and thought it could have potential to expand and revise
http://www.racketboy.com/retro/microsof ... -spin-offs

Pac-Man 256 is an obvious addition

Does anybody have and other new (or old) games to add to this list?

Pac-Man Championship Edition
Pac-Man VS.
Ms. Pac-Man Maze Madness
Pac-Mania
Pac-Man Arrangement
Crush-Roller
3-Demon
Pac The Man
Mad Mix Game
Mad Mix 2
Pac Maniac
Pacz!
Munch-A-Bunch
Pac-Doom
Pacshooter 3D

And if you haven't seen this guide before, but are interested in this concept, I think you'll find it to be a pretty cool read!

Any of the old stuff like Pac and Pal, Pac Man Jr, Super Pac Man and the rest what you're after?

Yeah pretty much as long as they are somewhat different.

I just re-read this article for the first time in a long while. Thanks for sharing the link.

A couple thoughts here in no particular order.
-I think the very first game on this list should be Ms. Pac-Man by Midway.
-I hope you keep Pac-man vs. on the list. I love that game.
-The link for pac-the-man-x is broken. looks like the coder doesn't keep up his website anymore. I was able to find the link to the software on google. This software was last updated around the time Apple was transitioning from PowerPC architecture to Intel. I can try pac-the-man-x on a PowerPC Mac and an Intel Mac this weekend.
-K.C. Munchkin is a Pac-Man clone for the Magnavox Odyssey 2. It's one of the best games on the system, but that's not saying much.
-My favorite Pac-man spinoff is called Pac-Land. I recommend this game to retrogamers every chance I get. Pac-Land was an early platformer (predates Super Mario Bros.) that often gets overlooked when we talk about the platforming genre. It's still legitimately fun to play today. On the other hand, Pac-Land doesn't follow the formula of munching pellets in a maze while being chased by ghosts. It's a spinoff, but it's not a clone.

Edit: I went ahead and tested Pac-the-Man-X. The latest version is 1.5.1 which only works on Intel Macs. Judging by the change log, it looks like version 1.1.3 is the last version that runs on PowerPC Macs. Gameplay is silky smooth on my Mac Pro running El Capitan. Enemy AI is not as terribly aggressive as in the original arcade Pac-Man. This is a good version of Pac-Man for kids or newcomers (if there is such a thing as a newcomer who hasn't played Pac-Man before).

Have any of you all played the Arcade version of PacMan Battle Royale? I played it at a Dave and Buster's around 4=5 years ago, it was really excellent. Similar to PacMan Vs.
