NeoGaf is likely no more.
Re: NeoGaf is likely no more.
Shit, didn't see this earlier. Was wondering why it was down.
Regardless of how the site was run and evilore ending up, well, evil, its a shame to see such a good resource for news and information disappear. Hopefully it can resurface under new ownership.

Re: NeoGaf is likely no more.
I've never cared for NeoGAF's mods, registration hassles, or forum policies in general. However, there were some really knowledgeable forum members there that made it worth reading. I hope those particular members dissipate to other forums now where their experience can continue to inform.

It is not enough to deliver any kind of justice, but there is enough to create a witchhunt so I would rather not.dsheinem wrote:It isn't enough to pass any kind of legal sentence on someone, but it is certainly enough for us to make individual decisions about what we think was likely, how we choose to respond, etc.
He was not accussd, he said it himself. It's just that he didn't consider it groping.Segata wrote:Tyler (Evilore) was accused of groping a woman in a bar back in 2012 while on vacation as well so this isn't a new thing for him.
It's an internet forum, apparently one of those that sprung around people getting banned from NeoGAF. A bunch of NeoGAF moderators, one of the guys who was key in the leak of the accussation and other well-known posters are talking about their experiences there. You'll probably recognize a bunch of names if you have lurked NeoGAF in the past. It's where the gossip is, frankly.marlowe221 wrote:What is “The Bore”?

Re: NeoGaf is likely no more.
NeoGAF had too much concentrated there with gaming and junk from industry and outsiders beyond the membership and all of it run by a pack of questionably rotten types. I don't feel it's a loss but a good cleansing it's shut down. If that 'The Bore' exists among other spots to take up the slack without the scumbags that's just fine.
Re: NeoGaf is likely no more.
The problem is that there were scumbags on both sides. The internet is the internet. Most likely Giant Bomb will pick up some of the slack. I hope we do, too.

As an outsider that never gave that place much of a look, it just sounded like 4chan-tier material to me.

I think they mean Jason Schreier, from Kotaku. Why, fuck him, I don't really know.Jmustang1968 wrote:Huh, who?Erik_Twice wrote: By the way, fuck Jason Schreiner.

NeoGAF ran the gamut of schlock to brilliant. For all the endless hivemind posts and obvious corporate shills, there were some incredible threads and very knowledgeable folks there. I'm hoping this forum picks up some of the better brains who've broken free now.Xeogred wrote:it just sounded like 4chan-tier material to me.

Re: NeoGaf is likely no more.
I never posted in NeoGAF, so I'm not in a position to comment on that matter. I read a few threads over the years that had turned up in google search results. I never cared for the vibe of that community, so I never tried to join.
Regarding Inducting NeoGAF forum members:
I say we approach this idea with caution. On one hand, we do need to increase our new user sign ups. On the other hand, I'm apprehensive about bringing in a community of people with notoriously bad attitudes.
