Sonic 3D Directors cut announced

Post by Segata »

Not official but from one of the original developers.

I love love love the OST to this game. The game itself....ugh. Still, it's kinda neat he is doing this.

I found this video on the compression methods used to get that animated 3D intro video onto the cartridge really interesting:

I loved this game around age 7 on my Sega Genesis. The soundtrack is pure FM synth fire to this day. The game itself, on the other hand, reminds me of Faceball 2000 on the Gameboy, a first person shooter where you can only see 5 feet in front of you and the frame rate never exceeds 8 FPS and all the enemies are smiley faces. It was really cool to play that around 1995-1998 but once more powerful handheld games became available it aged like milk.

I thoroughly recommend subscribing to that guy's channel. He has shared some amazing information on the games he worked on and the compression and graphical methods they used for create awesome effects on the Genesis/Mega Drive.
