Every kickstarter update has not been about graphics.

For a person who complains about graphics endlessly, it is easy to make the connection to them being a graphics whore..

If you read the kickstarter updates you would have known the shenmue 1 remake guy was hired on the project.

Have you seen the environments.

Kindly scream into a pillow your frustrations or something.

Exactly! They look gorgeous and not just that, they are perfectly in keeping with the atmosphere and feeling of the original games.

The reality is, no one is making excuses for an in development game. The fans of the series want a continuation of the story at any cost. They want to explore environments. How many people did you look at in shenmue and go, "WHOAH YOU UGLY!"

I still play shenmue 1 and 2 regularly and never cared.

Want to make the mighty number nine comparison. Here is your answer. No one would have given a crap about the visuals if the game was fun and smartly designed.

I would also like to add that shenmue is not a game similar to mighty number nine. One is a platform trying to capture the magic of an 8-bit era game. Another is a story-based adventure game made in the dreamcast era.

What's all this with "big" and "regional" vs open? That's nonsense. I've never seen that nomenclature used anywhere else, not on industry blogs or games review sites and certainly not here on the forums. Maybe that's a nice way to explain your views, but that's certainly not the accepted norm when talking about these types of games. An open world game absolutely can have linear quests and gated areas. It just has to give you the ability to explore openly, engage with much or most of the content at any time, and choose mechanically how to approach the game. Whether Shenmue qualifies as open world I don't know that I'm qualified to say. There are certainly some open world elements, even if the game itself doesn't fully qualify.

I would say that the absolute most important elements for the Shenmue 3 team to get right are atmosphere, tone, story beats, and characters. As long as those are all consistent with previous games and internally consistent in this title they will have succeeded.

It's not my views it is an industry term. I wasn't the one who came up with it. This is the only forum I've seen not know it. Also the only forum I know that is so insanely defensive how poor this game looks.

As to bogus that was a different Shenmue 1 remake guy. There has been multiple. The one I am talking about always posted on SD and was a constant perv and a bit nuts. His work was truly exceptional.

Reprise. Yu putting his soul..yeah fine but that's like saying at a talent contest when someone sucks at singing and they claim they worked so hard. Maybe they did pour everything they had into it. Still, doesn't mean it's good.

Then you will kindly provide some links so I can read more on it, because if it's industry standard terminology there will be some written on it by respectable industry or media insiders. Or it's not and you just think it is.

That's a fairly disingenuous analogy though and not what I meant at all.

$10 says when this game comes out, it does not suck at all. Put your money where your mouth is :P How will we determine it? Let's go with metacritic. I'm willing to bet it gets at least a 70 Metascore and a 70 user score.

This is Shenmue 3 at this stage in development.

Your simile is rather inaccurate.

Technically that's an old pic. The most recent development progress looks like this. Just look at those shitty graphics

Pics are not showing up for me.

Also, yes. What Elkin posted was from the e3 reveal two years ago.
