sega vs nintendo

I always love this old question nintendo vs sega genesis vs snes genesis vs nes telll me your opinion? I think for me i may lean towards genesis just because of the fighters. Even though the snes had better grafix but if i had to buy them now genesis is cheaper for the same game.

well to me sega was better. in graphics snes had better but in fun it was genesis. snes had good games in all but it seems like sega was always more fun.snes felt like slow,kind of boring. i always thought sega had more fun arcade type of games. if sega was still making systems that's what i would have. so to me it goes like this:
1.sega
2.nintendo

Sega!!! Dont know if it's cause that's what my parents got us and we've stuck to it since. But my brothers and I have always liked Sega more.

agreed! i absolutly loved both but in terms of just plain fun games, the genesis/master system just had it! i still love the snes and the nes (expecially snes for its great RPG's. expecially if you import or emulate with a translation patch) but in the end i still have fonder memories of the sega genesis/master system

I like beat em ups, and shoot em ups. I don't like rpgs. Makes it a pretty easy decision for me. But mainly the reason I prefer the genesis is just because I've had a lot more fun playing it with other people.

I kind of do not understand this argument and there is such an overwhelming consensus for the genesis. Maybe it's because I didn't own one growing up so there isn't a nostalgia factor for me, but I play alot of genesis now and still can't understand how people can put it over the snes. This may sound like a sarcastic comment but I want someone to better explain and go into depth as to why they think the genesis is better.

what do u mean huh? which do you think was a better system in the console wars snes vs genesis vs nes(even though its an 8bit compared to a 16bit system i have friends that love the nes over genesis because of the great games zelda marios metroid etc.

I kinda like them both. They each have their advantages and neither is very expensive these days.

At the time my friends and I were playing mostly sports games, like the EA NHL series, Sport Talk Football, Bill Walsh, Bulls vs. Blazers, etc. and those game were better on the Genesis. Looking back, besides possibly NHL 94 you wouldn't play any of them now because they get updated every year.

I think the reason why the argument exists is I think they were the most evenly matched systems at the time and while I don't have sales figures I don't think there was a clear winner. Before that the NES cleary beat the Master System. The PSX beat the N64 and the Saturn during that generation. The PS2 dominated last gen and the Wii continues to out sell the PS3 and the 360 now.
