I'm actually more excited about the New Mutants film than I am the Phoenix Saga.

It's hard to do dark Phoenix saga in Fox's X-men cinematic universe because they've never done anything in outer space before. Cosmic-level space opera can definitely be done in films, but Fox hasn't really set enough precedent for it in the X-Men franchise.

I also just feel mixed on it in like a... "they should have done this a long time ago" kind of way. I don't know that we really need a Dark Phoenix movie now, even if it is an 'important' event comics-wise.samsonlonghair wrote:It's hard to do dark Phoenix saga in Fox's X-men cinematic universe because they've never done anything in outer space before. I've quite enjoyed the recent X-Men movies. I actually think First Class is wonderful. But if anything I feel like Deadpool and Logan have shown that there's a lot of interesting stuff that can be done in this universe without the X-Men proper. Deadpool 2 and X-Force and New Mutants... all this stuff is way more exciting to me than "finally" getting a Dark Phoenix movie.

After a number of mediocre wolverine movies, Logan really blew me away. I wasn't expecting such an artistic movie that could be left open to interpretation in so many different ways. I've been meaning to write a full review of Logan since I saw it, but it's no longer fresh in my mind.

Logan really was fantastic, yeah. It's in my top tier comic movies.
To your note, I've been really bad about updating this thread myself. We've actually watched a bunch of horror movies this month that I forgot to write about. Plus I never talked about Wonder Woman which was fucking excellent.

Yeah, Wonder Woman had really impressive sound design. I couldn't help but get wrapped up in it, even though I'm more of a Marvel fan than D.C., I have to admit that Wonder Woman was a flipping excellent movie.

Didn't they already sort of address some of the elements of the Dark Phoenix saga in X-Men: The Last Stand? They kinda got it mixed up with the regular Phoenix stuff.

Sort of kind of, but the whole thing got retconned out by DoFP.marurun wrote:Didn't they already sort of address some of the elements of the Dark Phoenix saga in X-Men: The Last Stand? They kinda got it mixed up with the regular Phoenix stuff.

I still haven't seen that.
