Our store didn't get any in, apparently. The nice guy I bothered in electronics even went in the back and checked for me. I called and checked with the other nearby (One was 30miles away, I live in a rural area, that's considered 'nearby' ) stores and they didn't get any either.
I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt, and blame the lack of stock on the hurricane. It feels better than just assuming everyone I talked to today is a lying a**.
Judging from how relatively easy it has been to get one in more urban areas this time around, I'd say if you're patient I'm sure you'll get one. And now that the initial release date has passed you can start using on-line inventory tools to monitor when they are in-stock at various stores.
Yeah, everyone else here seems to have had good luck. So I'm hoping the shipment just got pushed back due to stores trying to do massive restocks to the areas hit farther south. Assuming Reggie was telling the truth about stock, I will remain hopeful.
I mean, hell, they've currently had 5-6 Switches in stock for the past 5 days. I'll consider that a good sign.
Still bummed I can't play Starfox 2 today, though.
I got one at minutes after midnight at walmart. Waited about 4 hours, ended up reading a little, talking quite a bit and watching E2 Season 11 of MST3K to pass it. Got home and it was late but tradition or whatever Super Mario World fired up first, opened the switch palace. Did Starfox 1-1 and saved that to get to Starfox2 which I cleared on easy(normal) which appears to cap the max rank at C on that (so hard and expert is where B and A comes in.) Same game as the leaked rom too other than the removed seeking charged shot and a few visual tweaks (choice of text font, title screen image header.) I think Andross was a little more aggressive but it's fair to say the leaked game is 99% the same, just don't use the charged shot. I was #6 of 22 at that location, the Meijer on the way got 8 and were gone as early as 4:30 which was nuts.
I'm seeing inventories lasting with all the stories. Scalpers are not going to have much of a chance this go around other than for idiots who don't think and just click. Plenty to go around and with the stories from Nintendo it will be a constant feed and not a lame trickle every 4-6 weeks like the NES had been.
I put off playing with my SNES lately waiting on this so I'll get some value out of it -- and that hardcover SNES guide is in the mail today to arrive. Unlike the NES one which had just all the guides from the old NES Atlas and the original players guide the SNES only some of those had guides so that would be cool to thumb through.
I got mine this morning! I showed up at Toys R Us at 9, with about 30 people ahead of me on line. The store opened at 10. One of the employees said that they got 120 units, so even my one hour wait was unnecessary.
I'm just looking forward to being able to play all these SNES games! I never an SNES so I've only played a handful of these games before via ports (ie Super Mario Advance 2, Final Fantasy Anthology).
Star Fox 2 has been dumped already; I'm sure people will take the time to go through it and see if there's any major differences between it and the prototype that's been floating around for years.
