I find it really surprising that the Vita is still soldiering on myself. Guess that fanbase is really devoted. I sadly haven't bought any new Vita games in a while. Ys VIII would have been a prime candidate, but since I've got a PS4 and it's better there (but not portable, of course!), that's the version I went with. And actually, that goes for the 3DS, too. That thing is still trucking, and it is absolutely getting games I'm interested in.

Switch is definitely Vita 2.0 so far. The nice thing about that is that it's going to get all those weird indies and niche Japanese titles, but it's also going to get Nintendo's first-party output. I'm really, really hoping the Switch keeps going like gangbusters, it's gonna make for a great five years if so.

Same. I (almost) always go console over handheld, but I LOVE the Vita.

Vita version is missing some dungeons and story bits.

Danganronpa 3 is out this coming week. I can't wait! Chaos Child is also out in a few weeks I believe.

This is a little misleading, even if unintentionally so. The Vita version does contain the original version of Ys VIII, it's not "missing" anything in that regard. That's because the original Ys VIII was produced for Vita. But when Falcom ported Ys VIII to PS4, they included some new stuff. The biggest addition was an additional dungeon called the "Underground Cathedral" which stars Dana in the lead. There are other smaller additions included, not the least of which being the higher framerate and faster loading. Due to these additions the PS4 version is the best version, but the Vita version is still the original Ys VIII in its entirety.

I find that most of the time, that sort of additional content is pretty superfluous anyway. Although one of the games I can think of where that isn't the case is Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker... although it'll probably be a long time (or maybe never!) get to the content.

The Dana dungeon is multiple dungeons in one and it's pretty good. It does add some backstory. It's not needed but it's a nice bonus, I believe if you finish it that in the future Adol can explore it in a more ruined state. It's optional and doesn't add story but adds a neat feature. The ability to choose how many party members. Since I am level 94 I play solely as Adol in his silver armor to feel more like classic Ys. PS4 is more than just uprezzed. They added shaders and foliage. Vita version only takes 150 Rep to get the true ending but PS4 it takes 200 Rep due to the added content. The one thing Vita has PS4 does not is the Mask of Truth DLC. Which is BS.

I have over 70 retail games at this point, a further 11 currently prepurchased or on route. And my wishlist is still 40 games deep. I never expected to like the Vita as much as I do, but I opt for games on this over PC or other consoles all the time. Maybe one day I will go for a complete NA set.

I can believe it. I'm closing in on 100 physical retail games myself. I have no complaints about the quality of the Vita or its library. However, I think 2018 will be the dying year for Vita, even for us niche collectors. Fair enough, it's had a good run.

26 retail games here. Nowhere near you guys. But I have hardware for days! I have one OLED Vita but four PSTVs (the controller bundles to be exact) because they were $50 a while back. I stepped into a toys'r'us recently and they drop those bundles down to $50 as well so might be a marketplace thing with whatever retail stock is left.

Now I know having those PSTV units might sound excessive, and I do agree on that point, but I have a feeling getting my hands on a true Vita in the future might be difficult and it's nice to have something in my possession without the need to hunt for the hardware.
