What was the last movie you've seen?

I love Rutger Hauer B-movies. Omega Doom and Crossworlds (both 1996) are two cheesy ones that come to mind.

Why is most of his career B-grade? I guess Blade Runner wasn't exactly a hit back in the day, but yeah it's pretty strange haha. He's an amazing actor.

I've only seen Blade Runner, Flesh + Blood, and now The Hitcher and Split Second for him so far.

Don't know if a classic OAV DVD Box set works, but I just finished disc 2 of 3 of Ranma 1/2. Found this a couple weeks ago, and I've wanted to see this since it was on VHS in the 90s. If anyone here remembers Suncoast, they wanted so much for these more than even other anime back then and had them one per tape. Basically a 25 year old want list scratch off. :)

Not really since I don't regularly watch it other than a couple toonami recordings. Other than Ranma and Dirty Pair Flash DVD set I found on Sunday I've not bought any in a very long time.

They were hitting drugs so hard in the 60's it's insane. Loved it haha. 1968... I think Star Trek debuted in 1966, but I'm not sure where else this could have pulled influences from. So it's cool to see some really weird zany old school sci-fi. The pill sex scene was hilarious. Her furry spaceship. The piano torture device. Yeah... it's crazy. Easy to see how this was probably a big influence for the pulpy Space Adventure Cobra.

Also hit up Death Wish 2 to continue into Charles Bronson's madness. A young Jeff Goldblum was a thug in the first one and now Laurence Fishburne is in this one haha. The doctor part at the end really takes the cake. Paul Kersey gets a little more creative. Hilariously simple, bad but awesome, charming fun.

The opening scene of Barbarella is one of the best sequences ever committed to film. Simply amazing.

Split Second (1992) Rutger Hauer, I'm finally seeing him play a good guy... I think. This is without a doubt one of the most insane (hilarious) movies I've ever seen. You have to see it to believe it. It was a blast. I can't remember if a musical cue punch line ever made me laugh this hard. Takes place in London 2008 where global warming has ruined Earth and there's flooding everywhere. The whole movie is wet and dirty, along with this blue-ish tint. It's like it wants to be Blade Runner but comes of cheesier like Demolition Man with Commando's tone with some buddy cop elements mixed in. Yeah, it's fucking amazing.

Fun movie. I rented this on VHS about ten years ago. I think I chatted about Split Second with Ack in this very thread at some point.

Since I'm covering the Second Continental Congress and the Declaration of Independence in my American history classes right now, I'm spending the next two days having the kids watch this MASTERPIECE of historical theater.
