Oh, I'm definitely taking my time. I'm intentionally trying to fill in the map while I'm in areas where there's nothing else of interest to come back to, and I've done a lot of poking around before leaving an area. There's still a lot gated off when you move forward; it's probably more efficient to come back once you've got nearly everything in your arsenal. In fact, I'm probably very close to that point where I'll take a break from pushing forward and go on a power-up collection spree.
I think I've got three Metroids left now; I know I'm close to the end.

Someone at Game Informer said they sunk in 18 hours for 100%.
Re: Metroid Prime 4 & Metroid: Samus Returns Discussion
I probably spent closer to 8 hours of real time because of several bosses that would kick my ass for a while; six and a half was what was reported in the credits. My final item percentage was right around 50% if I recall; I plan on going back to that file and 100%ing it to unlock all the gallery pictures.Exhuminator wrote:You're likely close to being done then. The average "time to beat" on HLTB is pegging 9 hours. The shortest I've seen on HLTB so far is 7 hours 18 minutes, which is why I found Popo's "six and a half hours" beat time surprising. As for myself, I'm taking my time, no rush. We had to wait 13 years to get a new side-scrolling Metroid, who knows how long it'll be again. I'm trying to make the experience last.Sarge wrote:10 hours in.

Always bugs me seeing how fast people take down Metroid. It has always been a game involving dozens of hours, but I take my time and go back over places a lot in search of stuff or just backtracking to another area. I try and enjoy the world so much, yet the older games would punish you for not being some speed run nutter, if you consider pixel bikini a loss.
Not feeling it today, probably play it tomorrow. I've got a few things I'd like to play around with and it's hard for me to put hours at a time on a game like that. It's best to be motivated to enjoy it for at least an hour at a time.

It doesn't bug me at all though I like to stop and smell the roses too. Playing Metroid for speed is a different but exhilarating experience in its own right.Tanooki wrote:Always bugs me seeing how fast people take down Metroid. Different folks play games for different goals.

Proof positive that I'm an idiot sometimes. The boss that gave me fits... well, let's just say using the Spider Ball is important there. I did it without, but it's much easier with.

We all are sometimes man. There's been a few times I've beaten parts of games in ways I thought were ludicrously difficult, only to find out later I had done things harder not smarter. I remember beating a scuba race in the first Everblue that was insanely hard. Only to find out later I was supposed to use a different wetsuit, and the wetsuit I had used was supposed to be impossible to beat said race with. Tenacity is a hell of a thing.Sarge wrote:Proof positive that I'm an idiot sometimes.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

Everyone is focused on speed runs these days. I do slow runs. Love to explore in games so I play for many more hours than the game intended sometimes.Tanooki wrote:Always bugs me seeing how fast people take down Metroid. I got both of yall beat. It took me seven YEARS to realize that I could use Z targeting on the Shadow Temple boss in Ocarina of Time. SEVEN YEARS.Exhuminator wrote:We all are sometimes man.
