I have one of these...

which is enough for me.

edit: So, I was trying to use the new SSF and got the same problem I got last time I was trying to use it. When I first set it up, I'm able to assign each button to my control pad. Then, when I go to reassign them, The define window pops up but is blank. There isn't even a cancel button I can hit so I have to close the whole thing from task manager. Looks like this:

Maybe SSF doesn't play well on Vista? I'm pretty sure I was using XP last time. Any ideas?

I'm having the same problem. I'm fairly certain that this problem's been present every time I've tried SSF. I've heard trying to disconnect all game controllers, but that doesn't seem to work. Let me know if you figure it out :\

EDIT:
so apparently my keyboard counts as a game controller...
If I disable it, I can get the screen to show up properly.
Then I can plug it back in and set my assignments

So you have to unplug your game controller(s), get to the redefine keys screen to SSF, and plug them back in, then set your inputs.
Go figure, I guess.

Thanks for the update.
Seems fitting that dual core is needed to emulate the Saturn ;)

Well like I said... When ever I FIRST download SSF I can setup my controls just fine. But then when I go back to change them, I get this problem.

I'm not sure what I did, but now when I click on 'define' it gives me words again in the pop up window. Problem is, my Saturn-like USB control wont work with SSF, I guess. It tells me to press up, and I do, but it doesn't work. I press a button on my keyboard and it works. Depressing... I can't even figure out how to setup my controller.

I had the blank controller config box problem with my 'atomicplay' PS2 to USB adapter. I figured out that if I only had one controller plugged into the adapter (there's 2 ports) during configuration, that I'd get a blank box - with two controllers plugged in, it worked fine. It's an odd one, I've never had any problem with MAME or any other emulator.

strange. if plugging in two pads doesn't work, try to track down xpadder and see if that will do the trick for you. it's a pretty easy way to map joystick buttons to keyboard keys.

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
Consoles: I have too much stuff
Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.

Xpadder is definitely the best remapping app. I dont know why people still recommend joy2key, especially when it begs for registration. Xpadder is entirely free, more fully featured, and easier to understand. I love the ability to import controller jpegs, and just drag and drop button remap tiles wherever you want. Makes it real easy to understand.
