The one I'm basing that on is Yakuza 3, where they cut out that stuff. It's very possible they've changed their localization philosophy since then. With Yakuza 0 specifically, it seems like they're REALLY trying to push Yakuza in the West, which I'm really psyched for! More people to talk about one of my favorite series with :3strangenova wrote:I would hope that they are, they have cp points listed that you can earn by winning so much money in Koi Koi and Cee-lo and a few others that I'm forgetting the names of.
What are you playing?

Well you've got at least one more person to talk with from Yakuza 0. I've already paid for my copy of Kiwami and I'm very much looking forward to 6 coming out next year.PartridgeSenpai wrote:The one I'm basing that on is Yakuza 3, where they cut out that stuff. The only thing that concerns me is that I'll be going from 0 and Kiwami all the way to 6. I don't want to feel lost on the narrative.

I've only played 1, 2, and the Tokugawa era spinoff they released between 2 and 3 so far, so I can't talk to you about 0, sadly Xpstrangenova wrote:Well you've got at least one more person to talk with from Yakuza 0. I'm actually putting off playing 0 until after 5 or 6 because I figured I'd be lost if I hadn't had all the context of the series up to that point it was made

Yeah I'm probably missing out on a lot of Easter eggs and I'm definitely missing out on the fun of seeing all the characters when they were younger. Honestly outside of Kiryu, Majima, and Nishikiyama, I have no idea who is in the later games.

Re: What are you playing?
To be honest, not that many characters from Yakuza 1 come back in later games for various reasons. It'd be pretty interesting if some of those more minor side characters have a more serious presense in Yakuza 0. Also, Kiwami's biggest boon is giving more character to Nishikiyama, because for who is kinda the main villain, he's BAREY in Yakuza 1. I have to imagine what Yakuza 0 adds to his character will help you a lot in getting more into Kiwamistrangenova wrote:Yeah I'm probably missing out on a lot of Easter eggs and I'm definitely missing out on the fun of seeing all the characters when they were younger. Even tho Yakuza 0 is the only Yakuza game I have played as of this posting. That will change next week with Kiwami. Even tho I never played it, I know the basic plot. I saw the film a couple times. Despite that, after 0 I think Kiwami's situation will have a real impact on me emotionally as a player that it didn't have before. We got to know Nish pretty well in 0 and I think it will just get more and more depressing in Kiwami. Sure I know the result but I may not be able to help the feeling he can turn himself around.

Re: What are you playing?
Finally found the gambling den with the other games I was missing. It's got Cho-han, Cee-lo, Oichu-kabu, and Koi Koi.
They are all pretty damn good. I was looking forward to learning Koi Koi, I do not understand it in the least though.

Re: What are you playing?
I started Skies of Arcadia on the Sega Dreamcast this afternoon!
This game is one of the main reasons I got a Dreamcast and it has been wonderful so far. It is a good old fashion JRPG and the characters/theme is just amazing. I have heard the Gamecube port fixed some problems, but I just wanted to play the original Dreamcast version first. I am so excited and I cannot wait to play more of it!

Re: What are you playing?
I have both and both versions are great. Gamecube added some side quests and an alt sub story. The Gamecube has more compressed music and some scenes are trimmed to be shorter, I think to fit it all on the Gamecube disc. Gamecube has less random battles but it's not by a huge margin. I hope you finish it and enjoy it to the very end. Fantastic game!Markies wrote:I started Skies of Arcadia on the Sega Dreamcast this afternoon!

Now if SEGA would release it in HD.
