Scalpers and retailers, OK. But it's not like Nintendo doesn't know this. It doesn't have NOTHING to do with them. They're kinda notorious at this point for shorting supply. If they chose to put out a limited time item, OK, but they have to know that they're pissing off long time customers. They have to know that only a small percentage of buyers are actually the intended consumer, and the rest are scalpers. "It's not our fault" isn't an acceptable argument. Retailers not being prepared, scalpers doing what scumbag scalpers do best, Nintendo is the route cause.

PS, life long Nintendo customer here.

Make enough regardless of how. They sell out of switches then make more. They don't just run them once and never sell anymore. Do the same with the snes classic.

If they are worried about digital sales of these games then why the hell are they making this? That argument holds no water, sorry. Simply put, they are intentionally short selling product. Why make something that you have no intention of even partially filling demand?

On a side note I have directed many people to stone age gamer for flash carts when they got locked out of the NES classic. Will do same for this one also. For far less than scalper price they can have all games on real hardware.

I honestly am not quite sure why they produce the classics either. Allegedly, they barely make any money on them. As Marurun also stated, releasing any high-price hardware actively takes away market share from their Switch console. The only guess I can come up with is all the hype these make makes people more likely to buy some of the games on them on their eShop? If it's not that, then I really have no idea what Nintendo is trying to do with these.

I posted about it in the "What made you smile" thread, but I had a pretty great adventure going out to get a last minute pre order. I'm quite looking forward to mine. If you can put ALL the games on it like you could the NES Classic, I very well may just get rid of all of my SNES stuff and just use this.

I'm going to take a wild stab and say this pre-order allocation won't be all that stores get, and they've probably intentionally kept that portion limited. At this point, it's probably easier to fight for a spot in a line than it is to beat out all the scalper bots online.

Considering the back and forward I had responded to a comment about this system and the BS yesterday to someone in the angry/smiley thread but it's more relevant here given the last few hours of discussion. I hadn't noticed someone revived this dead thread.

I wrote the stuff below and I find it an interesting set of responses. Clearly Nintendo is and isn't happy about the situation as it's a matter of money but also reputation as they get heaped with the blame probably more than they really deserve (not that they're blameless in the least bit.)

Mas was telling me earlier he had to call NOA over an out of warranty repair for his mom (kids broke a WiiU leaving it on for a few days straight and it overheated.) Brought up the SNES CE shenanigans. I don't think NOA would blatantly blow bs over the phone on this, but supposedly they intend to take action against ebay over the presale scalping going on but not saying what that was as he the rep wasn't told in detail. They also said they're not really amused by all the scalping and intend to ramp production and do steady shipments through the year so that those who want them can get them making enough. Oddly he asked about the NES one too, guy wouldn't say yes or no to making more of those available and his answer was he wasn't allowed to say one way or the other if they're going to put more on the market (which I find potentially a strange response vs a hard yes or no.)

Do they potentially intend to shove out both units perhaps in numbers that scalpers get caught holding the bag and screwing them over? I hope so. Have it end up like the failed WiiU where rapidly scalpers ended up having to sell at a loss because even Nintendo had to shut down production to remove rotting inventory.

It's clearly a promotional tool. Last year it made people stop ignoring Nintendo after that turd blossom the WiiU ruined their sales and reputation with the public so they went back 30 years into the vault to a time when they were absolutely loved. Then given the love from that (and the hate over scalper filth) with the time of the year yet again for Christmas and with the impending VC Switch launch and yearly charged network services it makes total sense to put a smattering of 3 dozen games on a box to give people a juicy taste of what they can do later on the Switch in HD too. A $80 toe tickle into the water to bring up awareness, awareness that comes at $8 a download on the VC.

Threads don't die on Racketboy. And if they do, it certainly takes longer than 20 days!

So many feels about this, let it all out guys, let it all out.

In other news the Samus NEW 3DS XL is not in limited supply, in fact Amazon has it for pre-order right now! and i think its been up for like a week.

However the Samus Returns Special Edition game for NA only has an added soundtrack, while the EU Special Edition has alot more stuff... look it up.

Oh and the SNES Themed NEW 3DS XL that was announced for EU is going to be only for them, meaning NA wont be getting a SNES themed one with the NA design.

Yeah im still surprised i havent heard of a riot/protest outside of Nintendo of America HQ.

I dont care about the protests that happend in Charlottesville, Nintendo stuffs is more important!

Charlottesville isn't relevant except to those looking to troll politics is why. :P I think the distraction of the SNES CE covered the no full goodie bag and no SNES 3DSXL from being lit up with some rage at least for now.

I think I have one preordered from the other day?...???
I'll believe it when it's in my cold delighted hands ;)

Anyways, I was up late that night and happened to find a link to an Amazon page for the SNES Classic (lasted maybe 25 minutes and was unavailable the second after my order confirmed). Thing is, it had kind of a weird "Nintendo Digital Downloads/Game Trust Entertainment System" and no picture. There were a bunch of Q and A comments that said it was legit and that Amazon reps confirmed it. The seller was Amazon LLC, so should be okay. I have a confirmed order, but the item page doesn't exist on Amazon now.

I have no idea if I'll have one come October 5th (when the order is set to arrive).

Nintendo, this is another fine mess you've gotten me into.
...just another lost soul...
