Yeah... I think some people are jumping to too many conclusions based on that short teaser.
Do the faces and movements look stiff and off? Yeah, they do. But you have to remember that, at this point, the game's still a huge work in progress. The point of them putting out the trailer was less of, "This is what the game is going to look like when you get it," and more "This is some of what we've got so far. We promise we're working on it and haven't forgotten about you."
It's a progress update, not a peek at the final product.

I'll be willing to bet the same amount I invested in that game on it never ever being released.

Re: Shenmue 3 Kickstarter
I donated $185 to the Shenmue 3 Kickstarter. This is not a matter of being a shareholder. I do not own 0.00002726908% shares (I did the math) of Shenmue III. I am not a stakeholder and do not get to weigh in on the development of the game. I may not even receive a game when all is said and done. However, I did it out of respect for the series, Yu Suzuki, and the team that wants to make this game come out after a hiatus of 15+ years. I'm fine with this.
However, deeply invested carries a different meaning to me. Deeply invested as in the Vanguard total stock market index? Deeply invested implies that perhaps you possibly overcommitted? To which I would say, that's a painful lesson to learn.
Give it time. Meanwhile, if you bought in and need to recoup your losses, I'll help you break even. I'm trying to up my stock of Shenmue III so I can be a majority shareholder.

Bogus is a popular dude.
I shouldn't be surprised, though. His enthusiasm for Shenmue is what convinced me to drop over $180 on the third installment of a series that I hadn't played yet

Re: Shenmue 3 Kickstarter
I invested $260 and frankly I'd love to invest more, even now, if I could afford to. I was in a really good financial situation about a year before the game's Kickstarter announcement and if it was launched then instead, I probably would have invested over $500.

Edit:
Hello PlayStation fans! This is Yu Suzuki, director of Shenmue III.
It’s hard to believe so much time has passed since we debuted the game at Sony’s E3 2015 press conference. Since then, the team has been extremely busy developing the game in Tokyo, but now it’s time to come up for air.
To coincide with Gamescom 2017, we are happy to share the news that we have inked a publishing partnership with Deep Silver! From the early days on the project, the team at Deep Silver really impressed me with their deep passion for the series and their desire to work with us to deliver a proper sequel that all fans will love.
To celebrate the news, I would like to share with you a teaser video built from a small slice of an in-development build of the game. As you will see, the latest chapter in Ryo and Shenhua’s journey begins with a beautiful set piece in China. You’ll also see that we’re aiming to significantly upgrade the game’s visuals, and you may also notice a new character during that quick glimpse of our new battle gameplay…
I’m pleased to be able to offer a small peek into what we’ve been building thus far, and I am looking forward to the opportunity to show you more as we get closer to our 2018 release.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to all those who have supported me and the team. I will continue to work hard to deliver the best possible realization of Shenmue III.
Yu Suzuki

Dude, I am SO jealous of Bogus right now. Positive, popular, a site-renowned man-crush; what's not to like?
