So I was cleaning out the reat seat cushion of this old car

Post by Scooter »

And found these little archeological finds:

My other hobby is musclecars so today I was working on putting together the '65 Chevelle I'm working on. I noticed that an old rear seat cushion I had scavanged from a parts car had a lot of crap in the upturned seat cushion so I took it outside and dropped it bottom down on the driveway to knock out all the loose debris and these little gems tumbled out. Now I'm really curious about the life that car led before I stripped it and scrapped the hulk!
Ow! My small intestine!

Those look like roach clips, circa 1850.

WOW, amazing. I love to see history like this, it really shows how people live their day to day lives and how they *may* be radically different than those that we live ourselves.

Those items are part of the seat. They are the original pieces of listing wire which runs under the foam cushion. The paper cord usually deteriorates first which is what is at the end of the wire. If you look under the seat you will see the rusty wire marks running the entire length of the foam. If you are lucky you may even find the broadcast sheet to the car in that location.

I want to restore a 240-280z but my automotive knowledge ends at changing a tire and checking the oil. I think I'll do it anyway.

I'd rather have an old challenger but that's not in the budget.
