Re: What are you playing?
I started playing through Panzer Dragoon Saga tonight. I never actually finished the game as my last attempt - five years ago - feel victim to the short life of the Saturn's save battery when I was on disc three and lost all of my progress, so I just gave up. I replaced the battery IMMEDIATELY before I started my playthrough, and while PDS won't let you use a cartridge for some reason, I'm making sure to take out the disc as soon as I'm done playing for the night and backing up the save on my back up cartridge just in case. It's such a damn well made game. I can't wait to get further into it tomorrow. I got to the start of disc 2 tonight.

Yep.... I love RPGs so I gobble them up. I use to put more effort into completing them when I was younger. I don't know what my deal is these days though is... I get them and play them for a while then just stop.

Re: What are you playing?
My brain is a bit too fuzzy to get through much Yakuza atm (I'm between medications atm, so brain doesn't really like that chemical switch), so I decided to start playing the original Saints Row. It's pretty good! Not perfect by any stretch. It REALLY looks and plays like an early 360 game. Textures you can see loading in, a low draw distance, no checkpoints within missions, stylized but still slightly uncanny valley human models, NO CHECKPOINTS WITHIN MISSIONS. Really, that last one is my biggest complaint with this game so far.
Other than that, it plays like a good Vice City or GTA 3 mod. Really fucking sucks ass that you can't zoom on most any weapon unless it has a scope. It's also really weird that you effectively need to buy multiples of the same gun to buy ammo for it O.o (you can't JUST buy ammo, you see). Other bullshit like you can't restart an activity from the point you activated it at, if a cop pulls you out of a car you're instantly dead (bye bye 10% of cash!), no real upgrades to your guns or character. It kinda screams "first in a series" in a big way. It's actually quite well written, true to form as I've seen from the later bits in the series. I'm focusing on the Vice Kings' storyline atm, and I'm quite enjoying it. Perhaps the other gangs suck though, as I notice VK's were the only thing that really got brought back for callbacks in Saints Row 4 Xp

Moved onto Saints Row 2 last night, and OH MY GOD is it a breath of fresh air. I described it to a friend as "Imagine if SR1 was a good game," and that's SR2. It's really everything a sequel should be, even if it still manages to run like trash in the first few minutes (this game really hates water effects). I'm gonna give it the Mafia II benefit of the doubt though, and theres just a very hardware-stressful part right in the beginning but the actual game runs fine

Just wait until you get into saints row 3 and 4. Tons of fun and out of their ever-loving mind.PartridgeSenpai wrote:Moved onto Saints Row 2 last night, and OH MY GOD is it a breath of fresh air. Just Cause 3. Was free with PS+, It's a fun game but the load times are horrible. I hate that it takes 1 minute to load a map because it keeps wanting to log me in Square. Look I don't want to I chose the offline mode. Stop bothering me dammit!. Almost feels like a Ubisoft game. Why does Rico sound like someone impersonating Ezio? I don't think I will ever finish the game. For now, it's decent fun.

Already beat both of those into the ground! That's why I'm going back to play the ones I hadn't played yetBogusMeatFactory wrote:Just wait until you get into saints row 3 and 4. I'd heard Saints Row 2 was kind of a happy middle ground between SR1's groundedness and SR3's absolute mania, and that's holding up more or less so far. I'm just glad I get to have a foul-mouthed Londoner as my main character again finally

Re: What are you playing?
Been playing Yakuza 0. I'm about 45 hours in and i'm just now hitting the halfway mark for story chapters and i'm still finding new minigames to try out. I've always slept on this series, but over the last year of seeing people on here posting about it, I figured i'd give it a shot. I'm so glad that I did too, I've already paid up for my copy Yakuza Kiwami steelbook edition that comes out in a few weeks. What really gets me about this game is the gripping narrative, i'm usually a gameplay first kind of player, not that there is anything wrong with the gameplay here, but this game's story has me glued to the screen everytime I get to a new cutscene. All the side content makes sure that I don't burn out on the game either.
