I assume you hated the original Alien too, since the killer robot was already long cliché by the time it came out. Along with every single horror cliché it engages in, like people splitting up, every place being far too cluttered for monsters to hide in, and stupid people violating every single quarantine procedure ever.Segata wrote:Robot man kills the woman he is in love with to make aliens because of robot boner or something. Cliche robot thinks it's superior to humans so humans must die and double cliche a robot in an Alien film is the bad guy, triple cliche the good guy robot not shown killing bad guy robot so when "good" guy robot shows up...gee wiz it's actually bad guy robot, never saw that coming except everyone did because it's far too obvious. This film pretends to be smart but greatly insults its audience. Yeah, that's shit. Flat out shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. Pile of fucking horse puke, liquid green pig shit cocktail.

You know what they say about those who assume. They make an ass out of themselves. The movie is shit. Get over it. It's trash. It's shit. It's terrible. It's worse than poop-socking a cow.

Nah, the movie was decent but had flaws, and a few plot holes, but it wasnt horrible or shit or whatever.

Yeah, that's not the saying. So why are Alien's clichés ok but Covenants are not? Is it maybe because you saw Alien first and now it's built up to be better than it is in your mind?Segata wrote:You know what they say about those who assume. They make an ass out of themselves. Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
^ because Alien is well directed, written and acted with strong characters and an icon in films plus we didn't know he was a robot. It was a shock to the audience when they found out. The chest bursting scene the actors were unaware that was going to happen so the lady screaming "Oh god!" was a real reaction. It was new to the audience. Now it's just a checklist in Alien films since 3. Not been a good Alien film since 2. The pacing of the first is great. It's a slow but progressive build. AC is just slow.
Anyway, I'm done talking about a shit film like AC.
School of Rock. I like the film but needs more AC/DC. I kinda wish the encore was for those about to rock we salute you.
Pumpkinhead. Not as good as I remembered. All I could think of besides Stan Winston's great work on the creature is the actor who plays Frank in the Jimmy episode of Quantum Leap is the main jerk & a fatter teenage Clark Kent actor is in the film as well.

Ring (American version)
When it originally came out i liked it but now that i rewatched i have to say that it was leaning towards bad. Not as idiotic as your average horror movie but it has it's stupid moments and some scenes were just unintentionally funny (like the scene with the horse)
The biggest flaw of the film though is that it's just not scary nor intense. The American ring feels just sterile and i guess the only reason why i thought back then that it was kinda better than the original was because it looked nicer (or maybe the original even worse but at least the videotape was eerier on it)
One thing i do give the director thumbs up is for not ressorting to cheap jump scares.
In the Mouth of Madness
I can appreciate this one but it jusn't wasn't very good. Funnily enough this has the same pitfall as Event Horizon (this movie would actually have lot of potential if it was remade by competent director and writer) which is another film starring Sam Neill. The pitfall being that the two films come up as goofy at times and it just takes you out of it. Example of that would be the scene where Sam Neills character punches a woman and the punch makes kinda cartoonish sound.
Eventhough i wouldn't call the film good it was still interesting and it had some nice special effects. Plus there was some genuienly eerie moments here and there. Probably wouldn't mind watching it again.

I always found In The Mouth of Madness a good film. It's just very unconventional.
Don't always agree with him but it's a fun channel.
Also if you want to see a better Event Horizon. Watch Pandorum. It's less gory but more thought provoking. It's one of those films that tell you the lot in bits sprinkled about and you piece it together. Underrated film.

While there are elements of Pandorum that are similar, I think it does diverge a bit since I think Event Horizon is more or less Solaris skewed towards horror.
Pandorum is more a mashup of an interesting story with horror stuff that doesn't really add to it (to me).

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Watched Commando last night, this has got to be one of my most nostalgic movies. I played this VHS to death as a kid, along with the Tmnt movies. If you like the 80's or if you like over the top action sequences this movie is for you. I'd also like to point out that the score by James Horner is so enjoyable. The steel drums and pan flute that they use have no business being as good as they are. Who thinks of a pan flute when they think of an action movie???
