Nothing more to add than what's already been said, but being aware of how Nolan crafted the movie for maximum emotional impact was more riveting than I thought it would be. 4.5 Spitfires out of 5.

Sleepaway Camp.

Surprisingly never seen this one before and I have seen a shitload of 80s horror films. Sleepaway camp is a great concept. No doubt a cult film. No doubt had little budget. That explains some of the really cringe acting. Tho Ricky was great as an actor. Angela was played well. Paul seemed genuine enough. Supporting cast isn't so great. The Aunt is esp bad at acting. She overacted so much. I get she is supposed to be a bit crazy but this was too much. This is one slasher flick aside form one of them the kill scenes are typically made to look like an accident. No superhuman traits here. The killer is not killed nor is there an attempt to kill the killer. What this film does do well it abandon supernatural stuff. Has a good backstory of why a certain character is that way. They do a decent job giving the killer a reason why they were tipped over the edge here. The best part about this film is the ending. That has to be one of the most shocking and disturbing endings to a slasher flick.

This is a film hampered by budget mostly. Some of the raw aspects work in it's favor while others take form it. The end result tho grabs you at the end. I know it's an old film and many may know the ending by now but for anyone who hasn't. Your in for something interesting.

Watched the Ghost in the Shell movie, I liked it. The visual effects and music really set the cyber punk tone up. The story played out some sequences like the anime a few times, a lot was changed to make it more viable for hollywood. For one, Majors conflict was externalized, this allowed the movie to give you a big bad guy. I'm a fan of the anime original but this didn't bother me in the least, I accept the change as something necessary for the movie to reach the masses.

Kinda got exited about films again and i'm going to try rewatch lot of the films i haven't seen in ages and trying to clear my unseen film backlog.

When i was trying to figure out what films i should be rewatching i marked "For a Few Dollars More" to be rewatched but while i was looking at it i surprised myself by noticing that i have actually never seen The good, the bad and the ugly which was baffling because i remembered FFDM being great film.

But I didn't see TGTBATU just yet because i figured i might as well rewatch FFDM first.

So was it still good? Yes, it was. It would have benefited from having special effects in someplaces because some of the scenes looked bit shoddy but considering the year it was made and the budget i can totally forgive it and it's not like my enjoyment of the film really went down because of it.

I think after robbery portion of the film is bit questionable plotwise but until that point i think it's pretty clever for a western film which makes it all the more furiating that Leone had to rip off Yojimbo with A Fistful of Dollars. If he had the talent to make it something great by himself (i'm sure there are reasons but i don't know the backstory of these films) he shouldn't have resorted to that (but this film probably would have never being made if it wasn't to that so can't be too angry about it)

Anyways. The soundtrack is fantastic and it's still a great film overall. I really like the chemistry between the two main characters and Indio is probably one of my favorites villains of alltime (he kinda steals the show)

So yeah. Happy to confirm it for my "top favorite films" list that i'been slowly making.

Have you seen the original Fistful of Dollars? I prefered it to the sequels honestly. Any thoughts on it?

Live action or the anime? I watched the live action one a few days ago and was not all that impressed. It wasn't horrible, but, the core plot just doesn't really jive with any other rendition I can think of. If not for the best scenes being ones they lifted from the anime, it could just as well have been spun as a Deux Ex movie.

I saw it when i was teenager and i was really into Kurosawa Samurai movies back then (still love them) so i utterly loathed it as being cheap rip off and i haven't seen it since.

But maybe now that i'm not angsty teenager i should watch it again with open mind and see whether it's actually decent version of it.

The Blob 1988.

People always talk about best remakes of 1950's in the 1980s and typically the top 2 ever mentioned is 1982 film The Thing remake of 1951 film The Thing from another World & The 1986 remake of 1958's The Fly. I would like to add another to that list. The 1988 remake of the 1958 film The Blob. All three took something that was a bit campy originally and updated it. The Blob 1988 knows it's a bit of a tough sell to sell pink slime as something scary. That's why I think they had a good balance of some camp B movie flavor but still made it terrifying for a modern 1988 audience. The Blob is nothing to scoff at as anything it touches dissolves in a gory mess. The practical effects of the 80s as always shine and age well. Better than almost any films CGI of today. It manages to recapure that B-movie camp but also show that The Blob is still a killing machine to not be taken lightly.
