Re: Xbox Light Guns
Silent scope is kinda a light gun game, I mean you point the gun at the screen to aim right, even if it's not using sensors like light guns do. This whole thread is just making me wish virtua cop 3 ever got a xbox release, that game was great.
Re: Xbox Light Guns
If we're being technical, Silent Scope is not a light gun game, and neither is House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return on Wii. That's semantics though, because the "light" in "light gun" simply refers to the flash of light from cathode ray television screens used to calculate the gun's position on the television screen. (Though, of course, we could argue that House of the Dead for Wii is a light gun game, since the Wii sensor bar uses infrared lights for its calculations.) "Gun games" has a different connotation, so the term "light gun games" to infer physically pointing and shooting has stuck regardless of the method of calculating the pointing and shooting.
And anyway, the Xbox version of Silent Scope does use cathode ray timing anyway, so it's a moot argument. The arcade version is a lot better though, with a mini-LCD screen for a zoom and a giant joystick for a gun, but we take what we can get.
